such trash, just buy the phone you want, clearly if the iPhone doesnt offer what you want do f'ng buy it. I dont understand whats wrong with an ecosystem.
No. It's for businesses and end users. Literally written by the EU people: "Consumers will have more and better services to choose from, more opportunities to switch their provider if they wish so, direct access to services, and fairer prices."That law is actually not written for end users in mind. It's called a Digital MARKETS Act for a reason. The intention is to level the playground for businesses.
Why even buy an iPhone in the EU at this point, just get an Android if you want to remove things like Settings and get hacked left and right.
Did you even bother to read before posting? Settings and Phone app cannot be removed. This is getting ridiculous.
delete the messages and phone app? really? how will you receive calls and messages?
But I'm curious about a potential edge case: will iOS allow a user to delete the Messages app without any other messaging apps installed on the phone, thereby making that phone unable to send & receive text messages?
The one who buys an iPhone to leave him naked, and put other apps, why don't they buy an Android? They would save a lot of money, and then spend it on the corresponding AppStore!!!If the Messages app is deleted without a replacement app, will those users simply not be able to receive SMS/MMS messages?
What a waste of time by these clueless politicians trying to justify their positions. The EU is a disaster and people starting to see this that’s why Vestager has been fired.
Use a different photos app you prefer? There’s no reason why Photos should have a special status.Truly mind boggling that the EC is forcing Apple to allow users to delete Photos. Honestly, to what end?

I hope it's a hot summer only. In the winter you will see the thing differently.iOS is losing its identity![]()
I was wondering the same thing …I’d wager they will provide SDKs for sending SMS/MMS/RCS and require messaging apps to takeover said functionality to be eligible as a default app for messaging.
Take it easy. Nobody will be forced to delete messaging apps. It's one's choice. This is getting ridiculous.

I feel like these regulations are getting out of hand. give them a finger and they’ll take the whole hand. this is the fear that governments will start with something small and helpful, and then abuse that power.
You’d think/hope, the delete option only exists for apps not currently the default. If the Messages app is deleted without a replacement app, will those users simply not be able to receive SMS/MMS messages?
So that alternative apps like Google photos can be the new default if the user wants? This and iCloud being the only permissible backup option are probably my biggest gripes about iOS.Truly mind boggling that the EC is forcing Apple to allow users to delete Photos. Honestly, to what end?
When there are only two ecosystems, it’s very unlikely that either matches all of your preferences.such trash, just buy the phone you want, clearly if the iPhone doesnt offer what you want do f'ng buy it. I dont understand whats wrong with an ecosystem.
Alll these engineering hours wasted on just a few people who wanted to be able to download porn apps.
So you’re saying the interest of minorities does not count?Would be interesting to see what % of users actually change defaults down the line.
If it’s less than 10% I’d consider it a spankin’ for the EU

Make your own mobile OS or use an open source mobile Linux distro on generic raspberry pi-esque hardware, duh.I want an iPhone and want to use Google Photos as my default. I'm not in Europe, so where can I buy the phone I want? I'm not interested in Android.
Unless or until Apple allows apps to use JIT compilation, other browser engines won’t really be practical.I’m curious to know if current iOS browsers will continue using Safari’s rendering engine, or if they will be allowed to implement desktop features such as the on-browser torrent downloader on Brave.
Oh! I thought JIT was mainly for running games or emulators, not other stuff.Unless or until Apple allows apps to use JIT compilation, other browser engines won’t really be practical.
