One has to wonder, given how recent of equipment and OS are required, how ready for prime time, streaming really is.

Rocketman

Yes, well I'm sure Apple have no idea what they're doing and want to give the media another reason for some over-hyped attack. I'm pretty sure Apple haven't tested this streaming protocol, anticipated demand and probably have no idea what they're doing.

It's new technology, of course it requires the latest kit.

D'oh!

If apple is streaming this, it means only one thing.

This is something big. Now i dont mean like one big product change. I mean multiple product changes including announcing product discontinuation . Frankly, i think the shuffle and ipod classic are going .

I'd be really upset to see the back of the classic, unless one of the touches suddenly doubles in capacity and halves in price. For those of use with disabilities, the touch is hideous to use. The scroll wheel was a masterpiece of interface design and really needs to stay in place.

I think part of the logic behind this stream is to slap certain rumours sites in the face. Leaking every product, spoiling Steve's big reveal - well, in return, he's just decimated visitor numbers for those sites later today.

gizmodo is so scared that it will take hits away from them that they haven't even mentioned you can watch it live.

I love all the people complaining about this. It is like this is the first time they have they have had an issue where they OS being out of date meant they couldn't do something.
In fact that is true. This is the first thing a Core 2 Duo 2Ghz iMac running Leopard can't do. Stream a video from the internet.

Apple should have and could have used a more compatible protocol. Or added support for this Quicktime X for Leopard users.

What does 3G attenuation have to do with the wi-fi signal. There is no wi-fi issue with the iPhone 4, so how he was holding it is irrelevant. (for the record no antenna issue has occurred for me or any of my iPhone 4 owning friends or colleagues).

I have not had a problem with signal either, but I don't hold it the wrong way. Also I have notice if I put my finger over the antenna near the headphone jack my wifi drops to half, sitting next to my airport extreme. So he could in fact have been holding it wrong.

Gizmodo will not be there all they are going to do is copy and paste from other blog sites. I doubt hordes of people will even go to that site when it's time.

I wonder if the 100K earned during the whole iphone saga was worth never being able to go to an Apple event and reap the traffic revenues again.

finally... I guess the MyFi network saturation at the last one was incentive to start streaming it live.

Looking forward to not listening to choppy audio-streams, finding a terrible quality video, it going offline 20 seconds later, finding another one....

Yeah, I noticed that too. All of the tech blogs are scared. But don't they realize that after the Apple event everybody is going to flood the tech blogs with hits so they can get an analysis?

AAAAARGH! Where can you watch the stream?

There´s only banner at apple.com, no link!

This is working great on my iphone over 3G. Pretty impressive, I wonder if this is streaming from the NOC in the Carolina's?

Was great here until a couple of minutes ago now its cutting out every second.

loved the livestreaming of the event. imagine engadget and gdgt lost a lot of hits thought to their sites
