I would be quite happy if they would just make the phone as thick as the camera and fill it with battery. The camera bump is annoying for those of us that do not use a case.
Happens to me every time!Got happy for a sec, then I saw digitimes 🤦♂️😂
You’re so right! Thank goodness at least Jony Ive and his obsession with thinness at the expense of battery life has gone.Let's see if they can can control their obsession with reducing thickness by a fraction of a millimeter in favor of adding battery capacity / life.
Does that mean we still get a camera bump? Why not just push the back out far enough for the camera to be flush with the back case? (Yes, someone has to bring the bump up eventually...)

Just the thing 1mm thicker and hey presto - bigger battery=longer battery life.
Did our hands get thinner? Why the stupid form factor then. iPhone 3G still the best!
Because I don't want a thicker phone.
That was easy.
iPhone mini is already small, they can make it a little thicker. Actually, make all phones a little thicker, not only for the battery but for thermal reasons too.
How can a NANO be huge? What a ridiculous comment. They need to get rid of that huge nano-SIM. It's taking up too much valuable space, especially in the mini. Apple should push for better e-sim adoption and make it so users can switch phones while keeping their number as easily as it is with a physical SIM.
A better battery would also have fixed the PWM flicker problem, which exists solely to conserve battery. If Apple could find a way to squash a 3000mah battery into the iPhone Mini they would have a hit on their hands. Many reviewers on YouTube love the phone but the battery just doesn't cut it for power use.
There have been no bending issues with iPhones for at least the last 4 years. They have passed all the youtubers bend tests easily, especially the models with stainless steel frames. So I predict more bending iPhones, and more failures, unless they do a better job of stiffening them.
I remember scrapping a piece of consumer electronics and finding two steel rods running up the sides of the device. They were obviously there for protection against the device bending. Why doesn't the iPhone have that. It would seem to be easy to fit *something* in the case to stiffen them, and if they go thinner chips now, that could be an even bigger issue, right?
I have a 12 Pro, and the glass is actually slightly taller than the rings. The actual cameras are tiny, it's all for show. I'm fairly sure the oversized glass also contributes to the iconic Apple lens flare that prevents me from taking photos into the sun. If the 13 renders are to be believed, that's about to get much worse.OR make the iPhone thick enough that the lenses can be set into the case, and not stick out. It seems rather dangerous to have them protruding out like that, rings or not...
It takes up roughly as much space as the A14 SoC on there. Is that not huge in your opinion? Nano is a name, they could have just as well called it pico-sim.How can a NANO be huge? What a ridiculous comment.
I don't see it happens anytime soon due to China eSim restrictions. They need to get rid of that huge nano-SIM. It's taking up too much valuable space, especially in the mini. Apple should push for better e-sim adoption and make it so users can switch phones while keeping their number as easily as it is with a physical SIM.
Yes nano sim is huge and take up a lot of real estate. How can a NANO be huge? What a ridiculous comment.
Yes, that’s only because the carriers like to control things. There is no reason why it can’t be software based only. The moment you enter roaming on certain network you can be presented with screen to choose your plan and pay right away on the phone. No need for physical SIM cards.I beg to differ. Having an actual SIM makes it a lot easier to move between devices.
Iphone doesn’t have that because it doesn’t need it. And thinner chips don’t make this a bigger issue - chips are not structural members. So I predict more bending iPhones, and more failures, unless they do a better job of stiffening them.

This sounds like a win all the way around. Hopefully this come to the Apple Watch as well. These news chips will be slimmer in size and allow for higher performance while also taking up less internal space inside a device, allowing for larger batteries.
Software only would be a pain in the ass for switching a SIM between my iPad, IPhone Max and Mini as needed. There is no reason to fix what is not broken.Yes, that’s only because the carriers like to control things. There is no reason why it can’t be software based only.
