I guess I’m the only one who didn’t buy AirPods with the concern of how they look. I bought them because they are convenient as hell and sound good enough. Plus they work with everything I use daily, iPhone, iPad, Mac.

I bought them because they removed the phono jack so I couldn't use $20 wired headphones that sound better than anyones wireless, and the Bose, Sony and Jabra earbuds won't stay in my ears as well as the AirPods do. And AirPods don't stay in very well.

Maybe when Bluetooth V5 is released then I can drop the sound part of that complaint. Reportably the next upgrade to Bluetooth is going to have full ALAC or FLAC (CD) sound quality. But that's likely to require both a new phone and new AirPods, and that means more money just to get back to the quality I used to have. When it comes to sound, for me 'good enough' isn't.

Isn't that always the case though the new tech requires new purchases? You can't use your current headset with a dongle?

With something so small as the AirPods, why would anybody care about scratches when they’re in your ears? I mean, I can understand nobody wants to see scratches on an iPhone display, because we look at our display, but why would anybody care about scratches on a pair of AirPods when you don’t even look at them in the first place when they’re inside your ears? Non-issue.

So because you don’t care nor should I? Got it. Thanks for setting me straight.

Also I was referring to the case.

I know I'm off my rocker, but the grease from my hands and fingers on the case drives me crazy. The case is beautiful when it's removed from the packing materials, but quickly gets smudged.

I had to learn not to look at the case and just ignore the smudges.:(

If these rumors are true, this is an instant buy from me. I absolutely love Airpods; use them everyday. This is the only Apple product I've been this excited to buy immediately ever since Cook took over.

This is probably the last Apple product that's ahead of its time, competitors are still struggling to match it.

I remember when the first GEN AirPods launched, they were literally backordered within an hour and progressed from there after. The second GEN, I can only imagine supply constraints, unless Apple has their supplier manufactures ready this time for a bigger launch. The first GEN AirPods was a similar launch to the first Apple Watch in April 2015, where Apple severely underestimated the popularity. So I suspect the second round should be hopefully more plentiful.

But undoubtedly, I would say spring seems like the likely when they will be releasing.

I don’t mind updating technology when it’s an improvement. With worse sound I don’t think Bluetooth qualifies. And I now need another charger. And if I use a dongle and wired earphones I can’t charge the phone at the same time. And I don’t know if you stay at small town no name hotels but I already have to carry a 120 multi-plug outlet because they don’t have a lot of spare outlets available. The fewer number of chargers I need the better.

In my opinion, one of the most beautiful products Apple has launched in the last few years was the iPhone 7 in matte black: very subtle, mature and classy.

They should release more products in the color line.

Yes and they will charge you $50 more just for the color

This isn’t true. Apple has never released a second GEN version of a product just to charge more for a color, if the updated technology in the AirPods is sufficient and more advanced over the first GEN AirPods, then it might likely warrant a higher price depending the changes made.

Guessing sound will be improved. Not sure hey Siri will be that important to be honest as only really use it on my watch.

But that is still a loss for the end user because you have bluetooth devices with no removable batteries that deplete over time and instead of having to juice up one device, you have to juice up three... that puts much more strain on your external battery if backpacking or getting away from the city, and also dramatically increases your exposure and risk of brain cancer by having two Bluetooth devices shooting through your ear canals and not to mention the potential health risks of 5G...

I completely agree. I handed down my 7 Plus to my wife which she still uses and when I get a glimpse of it the few times she takes the case off, I get a little envy and nostalgia for my first plus size device.

I experienced that with JayBirds too, which I also loved at the time. Maybe I just sweat too much because there's always one AirPod that sounds lower than the other after time... :(

OK, this will probably gross you out, but there is a simple solution to that problem.

It's call AirPods sucking. When I first saw it, I was "no way man" but it totally works.

Here's what I do. First, I take the tip of a paper clip and make sure that there is no wax in the sound hole. Then put your lips around just the very end of the AirPod and GENTLY suck some air through it. Then wipe out your mouth in case you got anything in there.

It sounds awful, but it totally works. Whatever small amount of wax is stuck in the grate comes out easily.

...I am ashamed to admit I've done this. LOL, I saw it on reddit and it does work. I just...don't want to do that if possible. :)
