I definitely think Version 2 of the AirPods Will be offered in a slate color of some sort, I think it only makes sense for Apple to expand their color options for a demographic that doesn’t necessarily want white, even though I don’t have a problem with that specific color. Black/or gray would just be easier to conceal somewhat better.

Making it available in black is one step less douchey plus it doesn't get as dirty as white. Is that enough though to overlook the douchey stems? Guess time will tell when seen in public.

Let’s try not to be douchey about it.

Actually, the audio is the last thing that I want to see improved. I think they’re fairly loud and offer decent bass coming from such a small speaker on the AirPods. I’m actually really shocked how how good they do sound, obviously there is competition in the Bluetooth market that sounds better than the AirPods, but for the price of the AirPods, I haven’t read/heard too many complaints about the audio.

I agree. The AirPods are a very nice product. The most Apple like product in years.

Has hell frozen over? Apple very rarely releases stuff in black, although they have done more recently (like the Mac mini and iMac Pro)

what about iPhones, iPods, and MacBooks? Haven’t those been black in years past? Seems like Apple always does white and black.

Glad for the matte finish. I will take another try at them when my Beats x wear out. The first AirPods kept slipping out of my ears.

Very cool if it happens. Only issue for me would be that unless the case is ceramic or similar, it’s going to look battered and covered in scratches & swirl marks within days. Piano black plastic always does that. Of course the white case is the same but it’s not noticeable.

AirPods are awesome no matter what colour they are though. Brilliant technology and the sound quality is very good for a product of this type.

Just like the "emprorer" who found value in his "new clothes".
Were the emperors new clothes worth $84B last quarter?

I guess I’m the only one who didn’t buy AirPods with the concern of how they look. I bought them because they are convenient as hell and sound good enough. Plus they work with everything I use daily, iPhone, iPad, Mac.
I don't think so you are the only one who thinks convenience outweighs looks. Some fashionistas might not like the way the airpods look, but there are plenty of choices out there.

Somebody will make a song about how easy these show scratches.

With something so small as the AirPods, why would anybody care about scratches when they’re in your ears? I mean, I can understand nobody wants to see scratches on an iPhone display, because we look at our display, but why would anybody care about scratches on a pair of AirPods when you don’t even look at them in the first place when they’re inside your ears? Non-issue.
