I can honestly say I have NEVER used FaceTime. Not once. But that’s just me. No reason to use it. I understand why others may feel the need to use it.

Me neither, most of my friends have Android phones, and although i'm on the phone a lot, i'm never staring at it, i'm talking and doing other things at the same time...

Am I the only one who has used FaceTime maybe twice in the past 5 years?

Wouldn’t it be sweet if you could opt out of the emoji updates? Maybe make them an add-on in the App Store?

We should make a list where each MR member picks a feature they never use. After that we submit the list to Apple and they remove every single thing on the list. We could contribute to the most streamlined iPhone ever that appeals to the most people!

I use it all the time. I'm often long distance from my other half and it makes it so easy to call and keep in touch without spending anything. I know she also uses it a lot for work.

I've always found FaceTime to be really good. I don't know if I'd use group FaceTime but it's nice to know its there.

I don't use it often, but when I do it is so useful. I tend to use it when I'm away on holiday and want to contact loved ones back home or I use it to show them something in the place I'm currently in.

Apple today announced that it plans to release iOS 12.1 to the public tomorrow following its Brooklyn event that is expected to see the debut of new iPad Pro models and refreshed Macs.

As we've discovered in the iOS 12.1 betas that have been available since September, iOS 12.1 brings several important new features to the iPhone and the iPad.

The update brings support for Group FaceTime, the feature designed to let users chat with up to 32 people at one time. Group FaceTime was present in the iOS 12 beta, but it was removed from the iOS 12 launch to provide Apple with additional time to develop the feature.

Other FaceTime features are included in iOS 12.1 as well, such as automatic detection of active speakers to surface the icon of the person who is speaking, ringless notification to let you join a call without being disruptive, and Messages integration for starting a Group FaceTime call right from the Messages app from a group chat.

iOS 12.1 will also bring more than 70 new emoji characters, such as cold face, woozy face, hot face, red hair, white hair, leg, foot, teddy bear, llama, raccoon, kangaroo, mango, cupcake, bagel, and tons more. A full list of all of the new emoji is available here.

On iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, iOS 12.1 introduces real-time Depth Control so you can adjust the amount of background blur before a photo is even captured, and support for the digital eSIM, which will allow two SIMs to be used at one time.

iOS 12.1 should be released alongside new updates for tvOS, watchOS, and macOS right around 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, Apple's typical release time for new software updates.

Would be great.. Apple already allows you to buy sticker packs for iMessage, from the App Store, but they don't do that with emoji's Emjoi's *should* be classed as an "add-on" instead

And/or place a switch in iMessage setting and "Enable" it if you want emojis.. "Disable" it if you don't.

i think the phones should come with emojis but not a disable toggle. It should be a delete switch so they don't take space. They should also have an overly convoluted system to restore them to punish you should you change your mind.

I’ll never use Group FaceTime. Think a lot of other people won’t either

That still leaves a lot of people who will.

I wonder if the reason they are releasing 12.1 tomorrow is due to the fact that the new iPads will support FaceID in landscape mode as well as the new Xs/XR phones. Anyone else think the same?

Delete the Emoji keyboard, I still receive them when people send them, but I never send them myself because i'm not 12.

What's the go with that stupid App Store button in Messages though, with all of the app's on the bar down the bottom? That needs to go.

can't say i would ever use group facetime
As someone who has a large family and they all use iPhones, i am tje last Android holdout, FaceTime is something tjey all use and I wish Android had. FaceTime and Apple watch is why next year I'll make the switch to Iphone

I like emojis. So do my kids and spouse. We have a fun time with them. To each their own.

I know about 50 people who dont use it or companies disable it for security reasons.
I call BS on this. There is no more secure means to communicate with others remotely over audio/video. It's end to end encrypted. Any company that tries to disable it better not allow telecommunications of any sort, personal or company owned.
