That doesn't matter in the current definition. To be a baby boomer by the actual definition you have to be at least 57 years old. The current definition is different. If someone is 20 and you're 32 that makes you a "boomer" if you say, do or think certain things they dislike.
The most humorous but also worrisome issue with the attitude of many of the young ones today is that they are convinced that there is only one way of doing something, one correct opinion or viewpoint, and that of course is their viewpoint. They have such limited life experience but somehow know for certain that much of what happened in the past was incorrect and that all current viewpoints different from theirs are also automatically invalid. They have zero interest in debating or calmly discussing other views and opinions and all they can do is try to cancel those opinions. Very sad, very funny and eventually the pendulum will swing back to the centre, but in the meantime they will cause tremendous damage.

Back to the topic at hand....iOS16 does appear to be problematic.

It’s not a great release but they’ve had much worse. People just have short memories.

Also, a lot of new features on iOS seem stable and bug free. It isn’t so obvious when something works perfectly.

That said, I was surprised the first day of use on 14 pro w iOS 16 that messages crashed while doing nothing special.

Then turn by turn directions in Apple Maps kept recalculating on every correct turn.

When I got to the destination, it never noticed. I walked up and into the place. I had to manually end nav!

I was starting to wonder about the clipboard permissions thing. I hadn’t realized how much I copy paste across apps, and today I started wondering if there was a security issue other than just being embarrassed I pasted and sent something unintentionally.

Glad to hear that’s getting toned down but would like to know what their intent was with the warning or if it was a real mistake. Was it in the last beta?

I kind of presume it is all (very skilled) hands on deck for realityOS, though.

And if I had to choose perfect iOS releases versus more resources for the Apple HMD, it would absolutely be the latter.

Just wondering….

Has anyone NOT had the camera issue? Is it with all iPhone 14 pro phones or just some? Anyone working fine? I would think someone would have seen this issue during beta…

I didn’t have any issues upgrading. No issues with FaceTime or iMessage activations…. No freezing. No problems with anything.

My thoughts on these bugs is sh-t happens and this is the world. Apple has been great about getting fixes out. And admitting when there are issues.

As for those saying the camera big is causing physical damage to the phone…. First, nobody has proven this is true or not… 2nd Apple isn’t going to lie and say here’s a software fix and everything is great if that’s not the case…. That would just being more bad attention to apple if there actually is a physical issue…

Everyone loves to jump to conclusions.

As for having a 2 year or longer cycle before major hardware or software updates…. that would be a good idea…IF Apple wasn’t the worlds biggest company. i would think they have the money to have people be able to get things out properly annually if they put enough people on everything. It’s not a few guys in a garage anymore.

Thats my 2 cents. I love the 14 pro. Mine is working great. I haven’t opened or used TikTok or any of the other social apps with cameras, so haven’t experienced any issues… and will be careful unto, next week probably Monday, when the fix comes out.

These are just my thoughts. Sometimes there are issues, and like the ones in the past, they’ll learn from their mistakes and things will get better.

New 150K Teslas have all sorts of issues too.

No issues here, stock camera app and instagram are okay.

Is there nothing that Apple can do that you guys wouldn't moan and groan about? This was a bad release. Apple knows it and you all know it. Apple hate is rampant. How 'bout we accept the fact that there will be a fix next week and we can move forward andmaybe we can hope that Apple will learn something from this. If anyone can't accept this, I would have to wonder why they would own an Apple product.
Ah, the old ”love it or leave it” argument. Here’s another one: ”the squeaky wheel gets the grease”.

Didn’t we already go through this exact bug a couple iOS versions ago?

Battery sucks with every OS update...

There really needs to be a sticky post on the front page of MacRumors forums saying this. There's dozens of posts after every iOS update talking about this. It's not the iOS version but rather what's going on after an update that's the cause. It goes away.

Having a "stable" and "dev" cycle would be advantageous, yes. But probably the developer-resources required are not to be underestimated.

Also, Apple couldn't lock-out firmware-downgrades that easily anymore and I guess they'd likely introduce even more bugs trying to back-port fixes to iOS versions older than the current ones (due to sometimes big changes under the surface). I.E. if a bugfix requires a fix in a framework that didn't even exist in the previous version etc.pp.

Their internal bugzilla (or whatever they use - would be interesting to know what actually scales to their level) must be a horrible sight.
(For a glimpse of how that could look like, take a look at the issues in Open Source Gitlab: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/issues - but probably it's much, much "worse" for iOS).

I can live with not upgrading to the latest and greatest at release-date - but then, I also don't think I've got nation-state adversaries that require me to run the latest hardware and the latest software at any given time...

Windows 11 is hot garbage. I had to do multiple BIOS updates since they screwed over AMD users to get in bed with Intel. Or should I say, Windows 10.5. Microsoft is a joke too.
Bios isn’t the OS!

That’s an issue with the motherboard manufacturer. At least learn the basics of your computer before spitting repeated platform war verses.

So far the only ios16 bug I have noticed is the MagSafe sound when connecting to the charger is very muted.

I not had this warning once on ios16 with 13PM. I can copy and paste to any app without getting that warning.

I know the Bios isn’t the OS. Think you’re the one splitting hairs. I said, I had to do multiple Bios updates to have Windows 11 function properly. The secure boot wasn’t an enabled by default on my AM4 board. Windows 11 is still garbage compared to 10.

There's also an issue with alarms set in clock app or sleep focus not sounding from internal speaker on phone, as they should, when connected to bluetooth headphones. Hope this gets fixed too.

If i have beta 16.1 and i removed beta profile because the beta broke my gps, and apple releases 16.0.2 (non beta) will my phone upgrade to that version or do i have to wait for official 16.1?

No it won’t as 16.0.2 is a Downgrade from 16.1 (16.0.2<16.1). You would have to wait for the final release or keep the beta profile installed and wait for the next beta were hopefully it’s fixed.

<Cough> Wake me up when 16.3 is up. Then I can upgrade.

And no, I won't complain of battery issues after upgrading. At least not the first week. Every new release of iOS does that for some reason.

I used to get sick of hearing this but now I'm begging to wonder if it isn't true! SHEESH!
Seriously it’s not. I have had far bigger bugs when Steve Jobs was around. Deleting all my files hello? That bug alone trained me to never store files on my computer.

This release of iOS reminds of Catalina. Half-baked at best. This is what "work form home" gets you in the real world.
Please just stop. It’s not work from home. Catalina came out in 2019, not work from home. You guys have no proof yet we have years and YEARS of proof otherwise. Catalina I got 5 kernel panics a day and Apple said it was a bug in the OS.
