Like the iPad Pro 9.7 that is supposed to have one of the best displays ever?
And that's for LCDs in tablets under certain performing conditions...... This doesn't account for the lack of resolution nor ppi upgrades which in my opinion would be a true screen upgrade.

All five of those points make be cringe. Adding complexity or even functionality does not nessesarily make a better device. It also shuts out a lot of folks who like a case for protection and better grip.

Ok. Enjoy your incremental upgrade then. A few grams lighter, a few fractions of a mm smaller. Sounds good, right? That's all we need. In this industry, you can't stand still. You must be brave.

Ugh. No AMOLED on iPhones. Every single android phone I've had with AMOLED has burned in. If you're a user who plans on keeping your phone for more than a year, who uses brightness above 60%, who leaves their screens on for long periods of time for note taking, while charging, etc., prepare yourself for horrible image retention. Happened to my Note 3, then Note 4, and now the Nexus 6P I sold on eBay. My iPhone 5S screen is still as crisp and bright as the day I got it.

Not just for LCD.
PPI means nothing if your are past the threshold. Stop playing the numbers game. A 30mp camera does not automatically mean it's better than a 8mp camera.

Well wether his prediction is accurate or not I know we've seen far fewer leaks this year than in years past.

With virtual reality on the rise, ppi and resolution play a very important role.... thanks....

What???my iPhone 4 screen turned yellow after a while while my s4 s5 and s6 never got burned in.btw do you see where tvs are going? Oled is the big thing for a reason. Deep blacks and color reproduction on ips the viewing angles are sht color shifting is bad and blacks are grays

I'm using my wife's old iPhone 4 as an iPod, acquired after it was released, very heavy usage. no yellow screen after 6 years. I've actually never seen a yellow screen, except on this forum. Actually never saw burn in either except on this forum.

It's funny everyone knows about a phone that's well over a year away and I swear we've seen fewer leaks this year than in any year prior.

Apple may have the ultimate trick bag for us come sept

These are the comments of a person who honestly believes that every IPS screen is the same, and every OLED screen is the same.

Same underlying technology, stratospherically huge range of what you can do under either method.

Mind, this might be simply because there's nothing to leak – if it's the same design plus spec bump that is. There's no point for generally liable analysts predicting that iPhone 2016 will be faster than iPhone 2015.

Very true but even in years past with no changes folks found parts casings everything, this year nothing solid but a rumor

Yes because they are the same BIG providers. You are not gonna buy an Apple screen it's gonna be from sharp lg samsung ...

Duh. There are really only 5 or 6 players left in the screen manufacturing business for consumer electronics.

That still discounts the fact that OEMs, if they pay for it, get panel lines that are specifically engineered to meet their specific standards (gamut, viewing angle, brightness, etc.).

You don't get an Asus machine and a Dell machine with the same screen in it just because they are both IPS, there are thousands of variants that can be tailored to each product if the OEM makes that deal with the supplier.

Fine with me. They're already plenty light and thin enough. I'd prefer the iOS and camera function continue to improve over new ways to touch the phone. And a price drop would be nice. I guess the razzle dazzle required to keep consumers frothing doesn't interest me much. Maybe I'm of the "Volvo" mindset … give me quality, reliability, and exceptional functionality. (ie. hard to beat a good steering wheel. :)
