It's looking more likely that this year's iPhone will be "left in the dust" by next year's iPhone. We'll know for sure in 5 months if it actually looks like those leaked photos. Then a major redesign next year becomes more likely in my opinion.

I had not considered the fact that this would mean the iPhone '7s' or whatever they choose to call it, could make the iPhone 7 look outdated and old. Now I have an even greater argument with myself in September as to whether I keep my 6 Plus for a third year in hopes that these rumours about the 2017 model are true. I'm not really one to 'wait around' in the hopes a new model comes, cause a new model is always around the corner. But I'd quite like a glass iPhone back, loved the 4.

The transition from glass to carbon fiber and back to glass again..

Apple never even thought how many more accident's they won't get done because Apple Care+ limits them did they ..

We shall see. if true.

Still waiting for my sapphire encrusted iPhone, so I take these rumors with a huge grain of salt.

Carbon Fiber?

I'm sure the media isn't understanding what this glass will be. It's going to be LiquidMetal, a metallic glass that is completely transparent to RF signals.

I know I posted this link just a few minutes ago but this is a more comprehensive reply.

Here are the facts about Kuo's accuracy.

He's not making hundreds of predictions and hoping some will stick. He's correct about 93% of the time (his accuracy hasn't gone down since that article was written): http://www.cultofmac.com/273923/ming-chi-kuo/

If we're being really tough on him, we could lower his accuracy to 86% but that's being overly strict (as in counting him wrong because his prediction about timing [but not product] was off).

I don't know him but if someone with that track record says something, I'm likely to believe him. If you don't believe what he says, you'll be wrong about 93% of the time. To doubt him is a misplaced skepticism.

Of course he's not the only source of rumors about upcoming Apple products but no one else is as prolific and accurate. To ignore him is to ignore a rumor with a high probability of being true. If MacRumors didn't cover his reports, they'd be a pretty poor rumor site.

Give me a break.
He cancels his predictions just a few months before release and then says Apple blah blah blah, many many times even when the explication makes no sense at all.
That really shoots up his so called accuracy 3x heh.
I;m not replying again because obviously there is no point to this blinkered sham.

Doesn't seem like record breaking quarter after record breaking quarter is lackluster.

I see you drink the Kool-Aid. Do you know what the concept of "growth" is? It's one of the primary determiners of stock price and by Apple being a publicly traded company, Apple is obligated to work for its shareholders. Dispite what you think, growth of iPhone sales is now flat and I don't see that changing for a very long time. Without any new products to lean on, that's a huge issue for Tim Cook.

Shatterproof:
http://www.motorola.com/us/products/droid-turbo-2

I expected to be turned off by a laminated plastic display. And while it's less vivid than glass, being practically indestructible is a compelling trade off. Not really caring about dropping your phone anymore is a much more important feature than I expected.

I don't anticipate an iPhone with a plastic display - it's a compromise I don't think would be in keeping with Apple's branding. But enhancing durability through some other means could benefit customers more than they realize.

"I will only by a phone that is completely shatterproof." Well, you aren't going to buy ANY phone. They all can shatter under the right conditions.

Lots of people demand aluminum or else. Lots of people want glass or else. Still OTHER lots of people want Liquidmetal or else. Apple should throw everyone for a loop and make the phone water resistant and the back out of wool. Then you could shrink the phone to whatever size you like by washing it in hot water.

I wonder if anyone has developed transparent wool technology?

AMOLED uses more power the LCD, especially for white. I wonder if that means a dark interface for mail on that iOS version? Also, you either sacrifice brightness (RGB) or gain graininess (RGBG).

I drink the kool aid opposed to those who don't see the entire picture. The rate of growth has slowed while the revenue per quarter has been beating records. It is the way it is, pick what you want to base your talking point on.

Showing customers that they really can wait every 3 years between iPhones with no ill effect isn't going to be a good thing for Apple. But, with subsides ended, perhaps this is all they could wish for.

What part of "growth" don't you understand? That indeed is the whole picture. Where is this train headed in the next 3-5 years? The "record breaking revenue" bit is already priced into the stock. That's what you get for its current price, but you won't get a dollar more.

I suppose it's indeed possible to keep having record breaking quarters on slower growth. Btw: everything under the sun is baked into the valuation of the market.

The more the growth slows, eventually will impact the quarters and they will no longer be record breaking

Well, you could use Apple's upgrade plan as "insurance" unless it wouldn't be an issue for you to buy this year's iPhone and upgrade again next year if you like the new design (if there is a new one).

Don't think Apple's yearly iPhone upgrade 'plan' is available here in the UK? Also I'm about to go to uni so it's pretty much September or 2017 for me, I just won't have the money.

So let me get this straight. We are discussing rumors about the next next iPhone not the next iPhone. Ridiculousness o_O

I think the iPhone should be made of chocolate. When they reach the end of useful life we eat them for a snack. I might have to buy a new one monthly though, not sure how long I could tote chocolate without having at least a nibble.

and inside that chocolate will be chips... lots and lots of chocolate chips. Nibble away

  • If this is the stupidest thing you have read you should read more often
  • Dark chocolate is indeed a snack and considered good for your health if eaten in reasonable amounts
  • My comment was meant to be nothing more than silly but you're awesome for taking the time to reply, all comments welcome. :)

Nah. I added the little face a the end and said you were awesome for responding. If I was mad about it (I don't get mad) I would have just called you a name and stomped away. Ha.

Sorry to be cynical, but if the guy dies tomorrow designs and life will go on.

I do like the Dieter Rams design philosophy he follows or adapts, however there are plenty of
good designers in the world.
BTW: Not every design of his is a winner.

I am sure Apple with it's deep pockets will find them.

You're wrong. You can't just pick a world class designer off the shelf like a packet of biscuits.

Do you really think Apple would not have the connections and money to find a world class designer to follow him?
Besides that there is guaranteed already a group that streamlines the design ideas
and Jony has the final say or they arrive jointly at decisions after discussing pros and cons.

why do you keep posting this KGI stuff?? this guy is never right, NEVER.
Is this a joke? The guy is the most accurate source of upcoming Apple info, he predicted the two iPhones, iPhone SE, smaller iPad, iPad Pro months, even up to a YEAR earlier than their release date.

Fair enough. I still don't consider even dark chocolate a snack. Well, maybe if it's over 90%...

I will never buy a back glass iPhone again
[doublepost=1461014204][/doublepost]aluminium design Is the best think ever Apple wtf is this
