I love the iPad mini but I think I'll go back to the iPad this generation. I did miss the extra screen space.

Do you own a Mini? I have the regular iPad and just want to know if it really makes a difference.

Were is the freakin MBPr w/ Haswell??????????? Leaks just aren't what they use to be!!

Really don't see any Mac leaks at all anymore. :(

9to5Mac's report on this cracks me up.

iPad mini with sharper display planned, as reported last month by the WSJ. Separately, we previously discovered iOS 7 code that points to Apple toying with a future non-Retina iPad mini.

Um, the current iPad mini is non-retina so there's nothing to toy with. I think they're still PO'd that a day or two after they reported this find (which everyone else ran with as evidence there would be no retina mini this fall) the WSJ reports there would be one. And now subsequent reports from WSJ and Bloomberg reconfirm it.

I've really been enjoying the new Nexus 7 but if this is true, I will definitely give it a look. I miss iMessage on a tablet. :(

Main reason I'm excited about a retina mini is so I have a tangible reason to buy a new one and my wife can stop "sharing" mine. I don't want to give up battery life for a few more pixels when the screen is fine as is but whatever gets me to to the store I suppose...

The minute I hear Retina leave Schiller's mouth, I'm off to the Apple store to get in line. :p

Yeah, I don't know what the logic behind that was. It's as if they thought iOS 7 would not support the first-gen iPad mini.

Interesting.

Quite a busy fall indeed. Predicted 3+ events in the last months of the year? Or just phantom updates for Mini, iMac, rMBP and AppleTV

Lest we forget last year's October event which debuted the iPadMini, iPad4, MacMini, iMac, and 13" rMBP.

I doubt there will be a 3rd event.

When all else fails, expect the same thing.

If the iPad mini goes retina this year, I expect a price increase (to $379?). And the non-retina mini will get a modest price drop ($279-$299?) and be sold as the low-end model (possibly with a minor upgrade).

My future setup will be:

iPhone 6
iMac With Retina Display
6th Gen. iPad 9.7"

That is, if all of that comes out next year Lol.

I hope not, but I don't know how much it costs to make an iPad Mini.

I'm honestly not even a fan of the mini. I'm actually kind of disappointed the full sized iPad is taking after te mini.

The mini feels too light/fragile.

That should do it! $329, same price as last year model but with retina display and A5X. If not, people flock to nexus 7.

Every ipad has a unique identifier. Similar to iphone, MacBooks etc.
I'm pretty sure the ipad fourth gen is ipad 3,2
There's code in ios 7 that points to the existence of an ipad 4,1 (for example..cant remember the exact number), so an unreleased ipad, but without a retina screen

Not strange at all. It's actually the opposite. It's strange to go to a full size iPad now after using a Mini. Why? Because the Mini is just such a joy to hold in my opinion. It feels good in the hand and it's especially amazing for longer periods of using it. To me it's that sweet spot of the perfect size. Kind of like how I assume most people think 13" is the perfect Macbook size, yes some people want 11 or 15 but 13 I think is the most popular for a reason, it's the sweet spot.

The iPad 5 is going to be light with a larger screen.

Enjoy your Nexus 7 :D.
