All i can say to people who own ipad 1-2 and don`t see the big deal with retina.
try one and see :3

i had a ipad 2, and after buying ipad 3 its a world of difference.

reading, comics, games, crystal clear.

Cant wait

Really looking forward to a mini with retina!! Although an added sd card slot would be mind blowing!!

I'm glad that Apple woke up to compete with Samsung. Forcing Apple to stop profit taking by milking their customer with a sub standard display, is a tactic only Apple could get away with.

Thanks Samsung!

I'd hardly call $330 for a 1024x768 low res grainy tablet "cheaper". But hell I was a sucker & bought one. Apple knows they can screw us. I wanted iOS & had no choice, nor was I surprised.

For the vey reasonable price of $220 my Nexus 7.2 blows away my mini.

My Nexus 7 suffers from a major defect, and needs to be replaced. ASUS is charging me shipping to replace a product under warranty, a defect caused by their poor quality control. Apple never did anything like that to me when I needed warranty service on their products. With Nexus 7 you get junk for customer service, with the IPad you get first class customer service. Again what kind of junky warranty requires the consumer to pay for all shipping charges. The Nexus 7 junky warranty is who.

It will be interesting to see what they do. If they do not release a retina iPad mini then that will be a shame.

Current iPad is called 'iPad w/retina display', what is the new one going to be called?

Just curious

It is odd; they had no problem going with sequential numbers for the iPhones, but they refused to call the 3rd-gen iPad 'iPad 3' and the 4th-gen 'iPad 4'. Not sure why 'iPad 5' is less appealing than 'New iPad With Retina Display That is Newer Than the Last iPad We Called New'

I'm sorry to hear that your anger has blinded your ability to see clearly. Perhaps you bought your Nexus before reading, understanding, and choosing to accept the terms of the warranty.

Playing the victim (Apple didn't do that TO ME), hasn't done anything to excuse you from not doing your job before purchasing. They don't have to. Apple has already overcharged you for the product, so they can easily afford to appease you, using your money :)

With Nexus, one gets excellent service, I know I have. It's precisely why I own four of the latest Nexus phones & tablets.

Agreed. Not to mention, the sourced articles usually have more information.

Are you suggesting that you're perfect and MacRumors is not?

I think you hit the nail on the head, for playing around the mini is great. If you intend to do any serious work with it, you really need the extra real estate. I'm hoping with the next gen iPad I will be able to pretty much retire my old MBP, and get a Mac Pro or high-end iMac for home.

Thats the thing. The serious work, at least for me, is done on my MBP. Running creative suite, coda, etc.

Can hardly wait. Still using an iPad one. About time to make a change.

I'm in the same boat! It's very underpowered after trying a 4th generation. I have been holding out for more weight reduction and a redesign. Can't wait! I find a minis screen too small. Full size for me :) I also hope finger print scanners becomes a standard Apple feature and are included on the 5th gen. I use one everyday on my Sony laptop. People won't realise how good they are till they have one.
Classic Apple bringing useful tech to the attention of the unwitting masses.

woo hoo!! retina ipad mini!! yay. i was really confused whether to go for the new nexus 7 or to wait for the ipad mini (if it offers retina display), thank go waited, now, i hope they dont price it too high.

They probably want to just confuse the market so they'd stop thinking and just buy one. :D

iPad Mini with Retina, A7 with 4GB, ac, IGZO!

Just hope that Apple realizes the sales are in the Mini and the iPad5 is the now the step child or secondary iPad between the two and that buyers want in the Mini the most up to date state of the art components inside it; not like with the original Mini.

I don't care much about the iPad5 but I would expect the Mini Retina to have inside: A7, M7, 4GB RAM, 128GB option, 802.11 ac! IGZO display is a must for battery life.

Apple should charge more for the Mini then the iPad5 because it cost more for the IGZO display!
