What's the deal with MacRumors no longer including links to the source news article (from Bloomberg in this case)? That's annoying and kind of sleazy.
Agreed. Not to mention, the sourced articles usually have more information.

I'm still holding out for September!!!!!!! :p :p :) C'mon Ming Chi Kuo, get another date correct this year!

iPad Mini Retina is gonna kill and there will be a massive 2nd hand market transactions of iPad 3 & 4 from now till September...

So if this is true, iPhone 5S should launch at the same time as the 5C. Can't imagine Apple hosting another event between these two.

They could announce both but release them on different days to avoid traffic issues.

They could soft release the 5C via press release etc only. Heck if it is as cheap as folks claim it might be by full price only and even at least in the beginning web only.

The 5C might not exist and folks were duped by hit mongers, an old rejected prototype, a new prototype for the next redesign etc. Even perhaps a misunderstanding that Apple is going to shift the 5 into an 8 and 16 GB selection as the 'cheaper' options and make the 5S only 32 and 64 GB at the same $199 start price

Lots of possibles

Thank you Bob. I knew you could figure out how to fit a Retina display into a mini! :)

You won't be so thankful if the rumors turn out to be false.

I just hope the new iPad has significant aesthetic changes.

Changes likely, significant unlikely. Seems like the basic form of the iPad is set. Anything we get will be more like minor adjustments. Slightly less bezel space around display, different cut to the chamfer. Removable and thus repairable screen perhaps even if just on the mini (which opens up things like battery replacements etc

Really hoping the new Mini has Retina. Then I can sell off my 3rd-Gen iPad, (aka, The Bastard Child iPad) and get a Mini.

Do it now. I got 375 for my 16gb wifi only in mint condition on eBay the other day. But I'm seeing prices starting to decline to around 300-325 already.

My old job got me an iPad Mini on launch day. Since I don't work there anymore, I've been without an iPad since May. Money is in the bank and ready to be spent on a retina one though. Can't wait!

The Weight (and no, not the song by The Band)

But the weight? What will the new ipad 5 weigh in comparison to the iPad 3?

I'm willing to upgrade if the ipad 5 will weigh significantly less than my ipad 3.

Anyone know this information?

I've yet to hold a Nexus 7 in hand, and yes, the narrow screen would be something to get use to. The switch isn't a sure thing by any stretch. :D

The bezels are indeed quite huge and as you say, the iPad mini does feel awesome given it's size and lack of weight.

I would say price is one reason. But also usability. You can't deny the Google's integrated services/apps/gps and maps is pretty compelling. Not being able to play the odd video on my iPad mini was irritating as well.

In the end, it will probably come down to how it feels in my hands. I'll consider a retina iPad mini running iOS 7 if priced less than $100 more than the Nexus 7...of course there's still the full sized iPad too.

Just curious, other than the high resolution screen(which hopefully Mini gets now), what else is so tempting for you to switch? I understand there's a decent price advantage for the Nexus but do you not find the narrow, long screen awkward? I've only held my co-workers for a minute so admittedly I didn't give it a good go but the shape just didn't feel right. That plus the cheap(I'm maybe the minority, I'm sure lots of people love the grippy back) back of the tablet and the ridiculous bezels just make it not that sexy for me. Mini on the other hand, pick that up and your in tech heaven. Just feels so nice.

Will they go for A6 on ipod touch also or they will discontinue the ipod touch line?
If they take it they probably will lower the price in order to be an
ipad mini-mini..;)
so their line up could be

I-pod touch A5x? or A6?
I-phone 5c A6 or A6x?
I-pad mini A6x ?
I-phone 5S A7
I-pad 5 A7x?
From 300 to 700/800 top price..all with retina.
I don't see them to still sell the iphone 5 because rumors are saying the C will have the same
today 5 tech inside and Siri won't be missing in the 5C ,i mean its in 5 today..doesn't make sense to stepback.
Probably finger recognition and Nfc will be missing in the 5 c instead .
4S will be discontinued.
Gold 5s won't be released...please.
Am i missing something?

Not strange at all. It's actually the opposite. It's strange to go to a full size iPad now after using a Mini. Why? Because the Mini is just such a joy to hold in my opinion. It feels good in the hand and it's especially amazing for longer periods of using it. To me it's that sweet spot of the perfect size. Kind of like how I assume most people think 13" is the perfect Macbook size, yes some people want 11 or 15 but 13 I think is the most popular for a reason, it's the sweet spot.

The mini is more popular because it is cheaper, just like how the 13" is more popular because it is cheaper.

I have the iPad3 and was certainly going to get a retina mini, but using the iPad this morning, I was thinking how it would be if the width was less and little bit less weight, and it keeps the same screen real estate - going to be a tough decision...

That's exactly what I'm thinking too. I have the iPad3 and the mini. I use the mini more when I travel and I carry it around the house quite a bit more, but when I get back to the large iPad, I definitely appreciate the screen estate. If they can really get close to the iPad mini feel with it, I might reconsider my plans of getting an iPad mini retina.

I'm glad that Apple woke up to compete with Samsung. Forcing Apple to stop profit taking by milking their customer with a sub standard display, is a tactic only Apple could get away with.

Thanks Samsung!

I'd hardly call $330 for a 1024x768 low res grainy tablet "cheaper". But hell I was a sucker & bought one. Apple knows they can screw us. I wanted iOS & had no choice, nor was I surprised.

For the vey reasonable price of $220 my Nexus 7.2 blows away my mini.

Do you folks think that holding the large iPad with thinner bezels - despite the lesser weight - would make holding the tablet a little uncomfortable (particularly in portrait mode)?

Two reasons I ask this - (1) because I intend to use the iPad for extensive reading sessions when I am traveling and/ or commuting, and (2) because I need an iPad and was planning to buy one tomorrow - yes, literally tomorrow - but am hesitating because of all this news about a lighter full-sized iPad!

Great its thinner and lighter even though holding my 4th gen ipad now is like lifting a 30 lbs weight what do the internal specs look like thats what i care about i dont want a thinner 4th gen ipad .

If you need it, buy it tomorrow and try it out. Only after your own personal experience with the current one will you know what it is like to hold and handle. Return it if it makes you wonder and care about the new one which means it did not totally hit a homer for you.

I'm honestly not even a fan of the mini. I'm actually kind of disappointed the full sized iPad is taking after te mini.

The mini feels too light/fragile.

I really really really do not understand people that say this. I want it to be the thickness and weight of a sheet of paper.

It depends where you buy it from of course, but several customer service folks at Target told me you can't return an opened Apple iPad that works (ie isn't defective) for a refund.. your mileage may vary. I believe Apple stores offer at least a 2 week return policy.
