Is it too much to hope for a Sandy Bridge Mac Mini with decent graphics?

At this point the answer seems like a resounding 'yes.' :(

Nope; just a little bit of time and a little more money.

I would like to see a MacMini Mr. X
I guess then again i'd be torn between a MacMini or an iMac
Unless of course it is a mobile quad core Mini

With Final Cut Pro X designed to run on the MBA, why do they even need to sell the MacPro anymore? Apple doesn't care about pro users. (Still heartbroken about that whole mess)

Don't give up so easily.

FCPX might run on an MBA (and it does), it runs a lot better on an iMac, and better yet on a MacPro. There's a lot of space between "it'll run" and "optimized for".

Oh, I'm sorry, was that rumor confirmed then? Or at least substantiated enough to warrant such smug responses?

The 11" is so thin that anything other than soldered-in RAM and SSD is highly unlikely. It's a pretty tough packaging problem, and they did a knock out job with it, given the physical constraints.

Am I mistaken with my terms, or technically is there no such thing as a "gold master" for OS X Lion? Given that it is supposed to be purely a digital release, a gold master (physical golden disc used as a master template for CD/DVD production factories) cannot exist?

It's an industry term of art for the final to-be-shipped production version.

I know of several companies that internally described something as Golden Master that would never ship as a physical product.

A Mac Pro equivelent to the entry level towers from the G4 days would be a nice. How hard can it be to sell an Intel Core iSeries based mac in a Mac Pro case for around the £1,000 mark?

Apple only get my custom on iTunes these days because I'm forced to buy used Macs or trade the advantage of internal expansion and my nice dual monitor setup for a form over function laptop for my desk.

I'm not happy about this temperature sensor stuff on their internal drives I've read about on newer laptops and iMacs too, I should be able to swap anything I like if it's not soldered on or proprietary

Does apple care cover international warranty?

I need to buy MBA/MB for my brother and my family leaving this Saturday. I need to get this done before that.

this suspense killing me (actually frustrating me) note that MacBook, Mac Mini and MBA all are on the last generation CPUs core 2 duo.

Even MBA and Lion Announced this Friday, it may not be available until few days later and AppleInsider puts the date next week...

Why not equip a Mac Mini with the same i5 as the low end iMac, and same ati graphics card, 4gb ram, 320 hdd, charge $799, and call it a success.

the upcoming refresh will have all the things you listed but the i5 is mobile i5 not the desktop i5 due to heat. remember mac mini is very small box with smaller fan.

Mac Mini specs are usually 13" MacBook/MBP specs.

Mac Mini with 64/128GB SSD will be awesome, i think it is possible with $699 price.

NOOOOOO!

I want the option of an iMac or MacMini with Lion:(

Seems like at the moment, Apple's using Intel integrated graphics for most of their newer systems. While it should be plenty powerful enough to run everyday stuff, don't expect it to run games very well. For that we might have to wait for the next revision and see if Apple can integrate nVidia's Optimus graphics switching technology into their systems.

um... Didn't they try that last year with the 2010's MBP's and the whole NVidia fiasco using an Apple developed solution? I seem to remember it was eventually fixed with a firmware update which took months to get out.

I have no idea. I own an m11x and Optimus works wonderfully. I'd love to see it on a future Mac.

I have just been to an authorized reseller in Phnom Penh (iOne). They had removed all the Airs, and of course I asked why. They said they were preparing for the launch of the new model. I asked if it was arriving tomorrow and the salesman just started smiling. So it seems pretty sure to me that it will indeed arrive tomorrow.

Can't wait for a $2500 "pro" machine released in 2011 to lack Blu Ray.

Why do people assume that their workflow = the only one that matters therefore their opinion is fact? So the lack of a Blu-Ray drive in the Mac Pro shows that Apple is not serious about their "Pro" computers and that it's a "rip-off" in a "$2500 'pro' machine"?

Have you tried to spec out a Dell Workstation or similar? They do not come with a BluRay drive as standard. In the UK you'll pay £188 extra to have that. You can get an internal or external Blu Ray writer for your Mac Pro for cheaper. So what exactly is your point?

However, I am also a "professional" and I use computers to make money, but I do not dabble in any media work at all so a BluRay drive is not important to me. I need a powerful and reliable computer. The only time I use a BR drive (an external LG) is to rip movies to add to the streaming setup in the house.

Why are people so against options. The Dell offers it as an option. Apple doesn't. You're saying the same thing as the guy you are replying too essentially, that Apple is anti-choice, except you're framing it in a way that makes it seem the situations are analogous and that Dell is no better than Apple.

Options are always better. More options = more people's "workflows" work. Less options = more limited choice of workflows.

So why do you think your own workflow trumps that other guy's workflow and that the Mac Pro should only cater to you and not others ? Maybe as Apple's only customizable machine, it should offer a much wider breadth of options so that both you and that other guy can use it for their workflows.

You would not be hurt by Apple offering a Blu-ray drive option, why the venom towards that other poster ?

lol. Touché

The point however stands. Apple is not "anti-pro" just because they don't offer a BR writer as an option.

Well that's good... seeing as we're all planning on rushing the Apple store tomorrow to check them out; personally I'm going to stay online and read reviews/impressions before taking the 1.5 hour trip to get mine. If they don't come 4gb RAM standard I'll have to order online though :/
