I for one welcome our anorexic overlords.

The MBA is already anorexic w/ it's poor screen and weak processor. I prefer something more toned and fit that has the chops to do the miles with a respectable time.

Apple to Reportedly Launch Thinner MacBook in Late 2014 or Early 2015

Hillarious headline.

Couldn't cover your bases anymore?

oh could add

Apple to Reportedly Launch Thinner MacBook in Late 2014 or Early to mid 2015

just to be sure.

I'd be more impressed with an article that said

We have no ****ing clue when apple is going to release a new macbook. The apple security is so tight they should be congratulated on it. Heres what we learnt from trying to infiltrate Apples security around its products

I wonder what processor Apple is using if this will be released late 2014. Apple has been known to get early access to Intel chips, but it's hard to imagine they would get them several months (a half year?) before their official debut.

The Core M Broadwell processors should be out late 2014, but I always thought they would be too underpowered for Apple's needs.

We'll see. I'd like a 12" retina Macbook, but only if it's powerful enough for FCPX.

i hope it's either an ipad pro, or a new laptop (and personally leaning on the latter). i can't see they using such similar diaplays on 2 different products.

Hillarious headline.

Apple to Reportedly Launch Thinner *Product-Name* in Early/Mid/Late 20xx or Early/Mid/Late 20xx+1

This is fantastic!

Just last week at work we were saying how much we'd love to buy macbooks if only they weren't so thick, chunky, and heavy. I mean as thick as the current retinas are, they even look like retro throwbacks to the 1980's. This guy at work threw out his back trying to pick up a retina in the Apple store last month because it's so heavy.

Is it too early to line up at the Apple store today? I don't even care if they make the battery external, I want to buy 2. One for work and one for home so I don't have to carry it back and forth. Even if it is super-light.

Well, they can't get thinner than the ports.

This would be a great chance to introduce the rumoured proprietary Beats headphone port, which obviously could be as thin as the Lightning port.

No thanks. The current audio out is fine by me. I am already tired of port changes and proprietary ports and their adapters, and there are more port changes to come.

I wouldn't be surprised to also see a thinner Thunderbolt port introduced at some point, not necessarily faster 3.0, just a redesign.

I believe TB 3.0 entails a port redesign, just as will USB 3.1. Both ports will be thinner.

Or maybe they'd combine it into one smart port on each side, potentially reversible ie audio/video/lighting/thunderbolt, depending on what you plug in.

And obviously a slew of 'adapters' for USB etc released in tow.

Other than that if it's an Air, I'd love to see a thinner bezel. If they reduce the bezel on the 11" they could basically release a 12" in the form factor of the 11 with retina and that's good to go imo.

I would love to see thinner bezels on all Apple laptops. I could see Apple discontinuing the 11" and 13" MBAs and releasing a 12" screen in an 11" form factor if they also shift the rest of their screens: 14" screen in 13" form factor and 16" screen in 15" form factor. If Apple were to shift screen sizes as such, those who long for the return of a 17" could find solace in a 15" form factor with a screen whose real estate approximates a standard dpi 17" screen. Thus Apple could maintain their 11/13/15" form factors while increasing resolution and screen real estate.

The big question mark is whether there are hi-dpi screens available in 14" and 16" sizes. Still, I doubt Apple would attempt such a shift prior to Broadwell or perhaps Skylake.

Please, do some fitness dude

they have to make a decision quick. My MBPro 2010 is getting old. Its either the MBAr or SurfacePro3 and my decision is in winter 14.

I had to drop my iMac for a pretty beast precision because they just take TOO long to drop decent products. I am happy with my decision though.

Apple needs to start being a little more transparent with release dates and roadmaps. The competition is just hammering out revisions and stating future release dates. I'd really like an HD MBA (and a touch screen would be icing).

Motorola Razr.

Sorry, MacBook Razor.

Anyone else imagined Apple's hardware thinning to the point that it cuts you? =/

Jony ive's hairline?

Heh. He's 20 years older than me and has about the same hairline as I do. Granted, less than two years ago I had my adolescent hairline..

Um. Long distance runners are lanky, weak and sad.

Maybe that's it then: The MacBook Air will be replaced with an ultra thin 'MacBook'. After all, we used to have only MacBook and MacBook Pro.

Makes sense. Once they're all retina it doesn't make much sense to call them retina. We don't have retina iPads and iPhones.

But will it be touchscreen?
It's unlikely given the success of the iPad...but one wonders if laptop/tablet hybrid products like the HP x360 and cheap Chromebooks may gain traction.
