Agree...Not selling the new remote separately does not make sense! So the remote works with the current Apple TV?
Why not sell it separate? (I mean, other than to make more money?)

i've been considering getting one, and naturally was hoping for an update. It is a great device.
Yea thats pretty wild lol but my guess is to include the hardware plus that new remote... that price cut would be hard to do. Would of given them a crazy advantage though to get ATV in more homes and boost TV+, ect. subscriptions but on the other hand giving people less incentive to stay in the HD world is really good too, the faster we all move to 4K in general the faster we will see more 4k and beyond, better quality and HDRNot even a price cut to $99? Why would anyone buy this at $149 when the new one is $179? The A8 is 6 generations behind, almost 7 at this point!
Even the 3rd Gen Apple TV got a price cut before the 4th Gen was released.
It is sold separatelyAgree...Not selling the new remote separately does not make sense!
Yep, I'm using a Roku and was intending to purchase an ATV if it offered spatial audio. I've not seen any mention so I assume it's not included. That said, I've not seen a definitive statement that it's not.I had the same question. That was the main feature I was hoping for!
Are you supposed to tape the air tag to the back of the remote? They want you to buy air tags or buy another remote
Because it's the main complaint that people have about the current remote, so this will push many existing users to upgrade (although this doesn't really answer your question, since it's to make more moneySo the remote works with the current Apple TV?

https://www.whathifi.com/news/apples-new-tv-calibration-feature-is-coming-to-older-apple-tv-modelsDoes anyone know if the new calibration scheme with the iPhone is part of 14.5, and may therefore work on older ATV4Ks?
Agree with this x1000. This would have been what made the device stand out. I’m honestly surprised they fell short here. They missed out on an opportunity to integrate Find My support with the remote. It would have paired perfectly with the launch of AirTags
Yes it does! I just posted a whathifi article about itDoes anyone know if the new calibration scheme with the iPhone is part of 14.5, and may therefore work on older ATV4Ks?
Or sell it for 30$ on eBayI'm trying to figure out if I should buy the new remote for $59. I'd certainly get $59 worth of satisfaction knowing I could piss on my old remote, stomp on it multiple times, and then repeatedly smash it with a sledge hammer. Damn - I feel better already![]()
Siri remote case with air tags holder coming soon $50Are you supposed to tape the air tag to the back of the remote?
Who says they didn't, might be an easter egg, enabled later on through a software update. They missed out on an opportunity to integrate Find My support with the remote. It would have paired perfectly with the launch of AirTags
Same. Buying 3 remotes and 4 airtags.![]()
