We held off on the original Apple Watch until just recently and save quite a bit by just being patient. Right after the Series I and II announcements, prices of the original Apple Watch dropped substantially on BestBuy's website. The styles we wanted were sold out locally but I went to our local Micro Center and bought a Rose Gold Sport 38mm for my Wife for just $169 and two 42mm Sports for $219 apiece (they price matched Best Buy). Did the same on the Beat 2 Wireless headphones and got them for just $150 (half off)!

2017 for a redesigned apple watch? i'd be very surprised given how long it took to update the original one.

It may look identical, but it's not. My perfectly sized band on my Watch 1, now is too tight on Watch 2. It's definitely thicker (from the band to the back, not to the crown), than Watch 1 - enough so, that I have to go add another link into the band to keep it comfortable.

it's almost as big and clunky as the old G-Shock Casios.

How many wrists do I have?
Maybe we are expected to wear multiple watches on each wrist. I don't want ANY watch on my wrist … either wrist.

I was planning to buy a series 2 until I found out that the new features weren't compelling enough for me to justify the price. I already have a MS Band 2, and I was hoping the newest Apple watch would blow it out of the water. But it is missing barometer (crucial for hikes), no sleep monitoring (due to weak battery), measurements like VO Max and lack luster battery life. I decided to keep my Band 2 until either series 3 or 4. I really think Apple should release a separate "fit" line of watches at a cheaper price and keep the current line for more luxury feel.

Maybe they would sell more Series 2 Apple Watches if they were available before November 7th!!!

Tim, bring out those mac pro and the rest of the mac hardwares.....otherwise, you'll be replaced by this guy....

I love what has become of Macrumors. Before if you just questioned Apple you were warned or banned. Now how the tide has turned.

Many of us Apple faithful are no longer just being apple sheep.

Well, sadly the tide turned when Apple ceased to be a Apple Computer and became the Apple of today, focused only only on profit margins and weirdly obsessed with "rappers".

In the meantime, all Series 2 are sold out for the next month

Series 1 will be promoted during Christmas by desperate retailers @ $199. It will generate huge volumes

Someone really needs to keep tracker on Ming-Chi Kuo to see what % of predictions come true

Being sold out doesn't mean much if the supply was low. I think you are right with the reduced price point. I still wouldn't get it at $199 though. It's not revolution as Timmy o-tool claims, but it is better than the microsoft band that just got discontinued.

I think Apple did an ok product, but at the wrong price point. If they want to increase sales they should make it Andriod compatible, as that is the most used mobile operating system in the world

I expect the same to be true for iPhone. We shall see.

that why here it's sold out everywhere!
I just don't think they produced an incredible amount for launch day. The 42mm aluminum I ordered wasn't even in stock. 3am est in it was already two weeks past launch day delivery. Same was true for many (most?) 7 plus jet black models.

I waited til Series 2 came out and then got the original in stainless steel on eBay. It already had os3. Wow, I am totally impressed by it. Making phone calls on the wrist is the killer app for me (didn't see that coming). Also am finding the health stuff to be subtly amazing and I see where Apple is headed. I think the interface is superb, not sure where this analyst would suggest improvement. Oh and I am getting a lot of style points too with my classic leather buckle.
You'll get bored of all that in a week or two more.

I wear my black rectangle and absolutely love it. Maybe that is because I care more about my health than making a personal jewelry statement.

Oh and 75 percent of the people I work with wear their Apple Watch.
I think I have seen one person waring an Apple Watch, personally I think they are an unnecessary item and I have been waring a wach close to 40 years. I guess my point is that I don't think they will ever be an item more than a novelty item. I can see a small segment wanting them for the health part but as far as a time peice I don't think so. Just my humble opinion.

Oh how I wish MR would turn off the font options...

This seems like a reasonable expectation to me. Not much has changed from Gen 1. I don't feel compelled to upgrade, and I don't think many others do. Given that sales were starting to plateau anyway and the new releases aren't really mind blowing, I'd expect sales to slack off a bit.

I'm not terribly bothered by that-- I love my watch. I hope they keep producing them. If mine broke, I'd replace it. Maybe Gen 3 will get me to upgrade.

People don't wear an MBA. Add to that, Apple released other MacBook styles to chose from. Jony Ive said it himself -- "as soon as something is worn, we have the expectations of choice".

That's what the watch bands are for, and why the watch comes in a variety of materials and colours. To customise and personalise the look of the Apple Watch.

Plus, it's a watch... I buy watches like I buy glasses, with the intention that it lasts me 5+ years (my last watch made it 16 years). I know some people have a bunch and wear based on their outfit, but I'm willing to bet a major chunk of the "Apple Watch Customers" aren't going to upgrade their watch for a long time. I know I probably won't.

You can agree with what Apple does and not be a sheep.

Just as criticising Apple doesn't mean one is not being sheep-like in their behaviour, especially if they are simply jumping on the bandwagon and repeating the same old tired refrain as everyone else about how Apple is doomed just because.

It'd sell better if they actually had any. Store pick-up isn't available until Nov 7th and shipping is 3-4 weeks. Instant gratification shoppers won't buy until supply has caught up with demand.
