You of course are quite right. 89 minutes of endlessly passing a ball with your feet without being able to score any points is a riveting afternoon. It's no wonder that everyone goes insane when a ball manages to somehow slip in there. Unfortunately, it always happens while I am draining the spit from my vuvuzela.

Americans just don't understand football.

You must be a bitter Liverpool fan to say that. Do you believe that apple just signed him without any research?

Not a Liverpool fan. And yes i do believe Apple signed him without research.

Anyone who actually researched Sterling would think twice about making him a brand ambassador.

Bryant, Serena, Curry make sense. Sterling does not. There are far more effective and likeable characters in Football.

Really so you know more that apples marketing departments. What do you think is wrong with sterling? What has he done, that you know of? As far as I can tell he is a stellar young man and excellent footballer.

Arrested twice for assaulting women. Photographed using a shisha pipe and on another occasion using nitrous oxide. He left Liverpool in very poor fashion, disrespecting the club, bad mouthing a former player and acting like a spoilt brat. Are those the values Apple want to be known by?

Was he ever convicted of the assaults?

If you have to ask that question of your "Brand Ambassador" you have already failed... But beyond that, he left LFC like a jerk, treated them how none of us would like our own stars to treat our teams, and frankly just isn't very good to justify inclusion alongside those other names in the article. He rarely makes the starting squad and when he does he is usually subbed off, why should he be chosen above Harry Kane, for instance? And this is coming from an Arsenal fan, mind you...

They should sign up Danny Willetts. The coverage he gave to the iPhone in the last couple of holes of the Masters (at least on UK TV) was worth the fee alone.

(And I had a tenner on him at 66/1 :) )

pic or didnt happen

Straight up, he was in my year at school.
There were 8 classes in our year; 4 of them were mixed up, and the other 4 too. He was in the other half of the year. Not in my lessons or anything, but he was in my year!

Don't have pics, because I wasn't his ''friend'' or classmate per se.

Since when has Apple sponsored athletes? This is news to me.

I even watch tennis religiously (hence my username) and I've never seen Serena say, do, or wear anything Apple related. o_O

You wrote your comment like you were sure he was guilty of assault. That's why I asked you that question. Why should Apple care about his move to Manchester? As a gooner you should be more worried about Wenger being your manager.

I agree, brand ambassadors sound like a Beats thing and nothing like Apple. They should flip that turd of an acquisition while it's still worth something, and before it further dilutes the Apple brand.
When Apple bought Beats i predicted on here that they will sell it within five years at half the price they paid for it and I still believe this.

How about they give 2500 macrumours members £100 a year to serve as brand ambassadors? we already do that job 99% of the time ...

News to me too.
I know not everybody is squeaky clean these days (tennis included) but they could have chosen better I think.
Serena Williams Is a good choice..not sure who I would have gone for.
Maybe Kei Nishikori (in Japan at least) would have been a good choice.

But does Stirling have international appeal? (Honest question..) as stated by some of the Americans here they don't care too much about the world's most universally popular sport.
And from what I gather he is not particularly popular in England (or the UK as a whole.)

Well, soccer is the number one sport globally. In 10-12 years, it will be the number two sport - behind only the NFL - in the USA. No amount of posturing, complaining, or dissing the game will change those facts.
I love futbol (#1) but it will always be behind mlb, nba and nfl in the US. Even w the population movement and increasing of minority which tend to play and watch soccer.
