I didn't know this was a thing.
Do they offer loaners in the UK as well?

No thanks. iPhone 8 has 3D Touch, Touch ID, and a Qualcomm modem. This is downgrade in every way.

Actually most iPhone 8’s have intel modems the ones with Qualcomm are in response to a German court during the apple/Qualcomm trial in which apple in response to circumvent the ruling made iPhone 8’s (and 7 models at the time) with a Qualcomm modem (which were deliberately dumbed down from the intel ones I believe)

Or have you forgotten about that ruling

It’s an even split, in the U.S. AT&T and T-Mobile used the Intel model, while Verizon and Sprint used the Qualcomm model for CDMA support.

A veteran MR member should already have a backup phone for emergency / repair purpose. :D If you have been here more than a year and don't already have a backup phone, you are a slacker and your forum membership may be revoked.
I guess that more shows how much we're in the minority here

I need a loaner with 30pin or FireWire 400 port. Since apple launched their regressive MacBook pros it shouldn’t be difficult for them.

She'll probably agree. wait for the 2nd car and second house then file for divorce, her lawyer will clean you out, better hope you new Girlfriend has a car, preferably a big car or better still a motorhome, cos it's where you'd be living :)

Apple is always looking out for each and everyone of us with consumer-friendly support offerings like this.
Policies like this just aren't available from anyone else.

When are phones sent out for repair? I know watches and other products may be. For phones, I always thought that if it was a screen replacement, that was handled in-house over the course of a few hours, and that has been possible for years. For total replacements, they'd just give you an on-the-spot replacement.
My watch was swapped the same day at a Best Buy. I don't see why they would send anything.

Wish Apple did this years ago because a week without a phone is unacceptable
It only took a supply chain crisis to make them realize the alternative they coach their apple retail employees to chirp is not feasible (that being, oh! Just go and buy a new iPhone and return it within 14 days… most repairs only take a day or so, a few at most, etc… longer than 14 days? Rare. So rare it’s ok to return the “loaner” phone and buy another model to stretch another 14 days!).

And not the bloody amount of $ it’ll cost them because they’re very very profitable.

That is definitely a big improvement from iPhone 8 which was offered earlier, especially now since almost all the iPhones have new design with FaceID.

I love my XR. The thing has been thoroughly abused but it holds up like a tank, not even cracked the screen after so many drops. I just haven't seen a reason to upgrade yet, waiting for either the notch to go or USB-C so I can carry one charger.
