Please for the love of the heavens, Apple, do not power this with an Apple Watch chip. Siri on the Mini is absolute trash just like it is on the Watch and it sucks as a Home Hub. I believe it’s due to lack of processing power. The OG was great.

I felt compelled to post after years and years of lurking.

After having “won” one of the OG HomePods at a trade show, I gotta say this is one of the most underrated products ever.

Re: Spotify - I finally made the switch to Apple Music due to the lossless, and the HomePod supports the lossless. However even with lossy Spotify, the HomePod beats my Sonos 5. I’ve relegated the Sonos to the turntable in my office, and I’ve been waiting for an updated large HomePod since they discontinued them.

I ended up with 3 while I could find them.

Disclaimer that I don’t use any smart features or Siri ever, but for the sake of having music playing, I will defend the HomePod forever even as I’ve moved more and more out of the Apple ecosystem over the years.

I’m still rocking my OG HomePod and it sounds absolutely incredible. It’s a delight to listen to any song with it. Siri needs a lot of improvement, but as far as sound quality, it’s a beast!

Why do people want backwards tech? Just buy a dumb speaker
Because the day they stop updating the OS I could still use the damn thing and not have an expensive paperweight.

I am not talking about an out but an IN jack.

HomePod powered by A13? I see the rest of the A family is discontinued at this point. Imagine your HomePod with the power of iPhone 11/Pro. :D

As long as they suppose atmos, count me in.
Doesn't the OG support Atmos?
Bluetooth and Line In or DOA.
Bluetooth is on the OG HomePod.

Bluetooth 5.0

Line IN would be nice ... but I think a Sonos like HUB would better for that. Let the HomePods be freely placed anywhere in a room, have only 1 wire for power only. But a hub control's interface IN/OUT .

Then vinyl lovers can play those old classics and UNRELEASED tracks that have never made it to radio, CD nor streaming can be enjoyed. I have an early Bob Marley single that was never placed on an album, streamed, nor uploaded for digital content that I listen to here and there. Family heirloom as it were, still unsure how my great uncle got it but its a young Bobbie singing.
