After going from the 3GS to 4, I liked and kind of missed the rounded white plastic look and feel. I like this move, but will still be sticking to my 5. It looks nicer than the 3GS however. Won't be buying one, but it gives those who would otherwise not get one, a chance at getting an iPhone.

They're out their minds if they don't introduce an iPhone 6 at this point. The competition is tougher than ever. I believe in Apple though !!!

it would be surprising if iOS 7 will be ready by then. If not, then they will be probably just announce that the iPhone 5S/iPhone 5C to be released a week later. Going to be an interesting..

I can't remember, was the iPad mini also shown at the iPhone 5 event last year? Or did they have separate events?

It's gotta' happen. Like it or not. Apple are losing millions of sales in Asia to Samsung & that number will only increase unless they act now.

I agree and I also think they can't afford to wait until March or April for an iPad Mini Retina either. By then the market will be saturated with low cost Nexus 7 which are cheap and have beautiful displays. I think we are slowly reaching a point where Apple can no longer count on their ecosystem to hold people to Apple products. Nice big bright super high resolution phones by the competition is slowing going to eat them up, plus their are the cheaper phones that have great specs too.

I purchased a 4S when it was released in Oct 2011, so I am eligible for upgrade - I will most likely purchase the new one when it comes out this fall. :)

Yes!! I can't wait til the iPhone 5S is in my hands. it will never leave my pocket when I'm in public. Some loser stole my iPhone 5 when I was charging it at work. I hope the iPhone 5 cases will fit on it.

The price would more be $450 than $490 if it's based on the unsubsidized iPhone 4 price.

Apple's international pricing doesn't really follow the actual exchange rate so you can't just convert yuans to USD to get a good approximation. It's more accurate to just find a product that sells for 3,000 yuans on the Chinese Apple Store and look at the same product on the U.S. store, the iPhone 4 for example. That would indicate a US $450 price, not $490.

Then just bring back the 3G/3GS design. Much simpler and it worked. Oh, and those weren't cheap even though they were a one-piece plastic thing.

Yes, Apple will charge you high even if plastic, doubt it will be next to sub-$200

I don't disagree that the 3G/3GS were fine designs (I owned both), but if Apple's going to go to the trouble to keep the new screen size, they might as well start from scratch in terms of design - which it looks like they have. I also don't see Apple wanting to look they are going backwards. They have to think of their global, overall image - and that is not served well by backpedaling. The 3G/3GS is a nice piece of their history, but they (and a lot of us) have moved on.

And no, the 3G/3GS weren't cheap, but those also had a *****-ton of profit built in, just like the 4 and 5 after it. Maybe Apple can lower their margin a bit on the low-cost model since they know it will find favor with a broader international market.

I actually like the supposed "5C" design, and if it were the same specs as my 5, I probably would rather have the plastic case.

I won't be upgrading to the 5S, but I hope its biggest features are things we haven't heard about yet - because right now, it sounds like iOS7 is its biggest selling point, and that is hardly exclusive to that model...

Rundown of September- on the 10th apple announces new iPhone/iPhones and announces release dates of them and iOS7 which will be released on the 17th. and the new Mac Pro's release date shall be announced. On the 17th apple releases iOS7 and starts shipping the new iPhones. The release date goes horrible and apple sells the fewest iPhones they've ever sold on a release date. shipping time goes from 5-7 weeks to 1-3 days in a matter of days. This year we see the demise of Apple. Tim Cook is ousted and so are others in corporate.

That is not an emerging market price, specially with the taxes that you can have there.

Verizon upgraders

Hey guys - I've always been on ATT, but switched last year to VZ when I got my iPhone 5. With ATT I always paid the early upgrade cost to get a new phone every year. (It was roughly subsidized cost + $200.)

Since I'm new to Verizon I don't know the best way to do it here. Should I alternate years getting a subsidized one then paying for Unlocked the next year, or should I do that same as I did on ATT (pay early upgrade cost).

Thanks!

If they allowed white or black face (of course a black face wouldn't really work with these colors), I'd find this a handsome phone . It'll work for most though. Looks just like the new iPod touch. Looks sleek. People will love them. Btw, for those trying to justify apple doing this only because it's for Asia and other poor countries. Give it a rest. You're not even right. $490 is wayyyyy too much money for even those countries. You find better android phones for half that price in those areas. People all over the world are disappointed that the cost is only $200 less than the 5S. Because it's still not affordable
