Apple will unveil its next iPhone on September 10, Though the date of the announcement has been revealed, it is unclear whether the event will focus singularly on the upcoming iPhone 5S or if it will include Apple's rumored low-cost iPhone possibly dubbed the iPhone "5C".
Oh wow, much earlier than I expected
I agree and I also think they can't afford to wait until March or April for an iPad Mini Retina either. By then the market will be saturated with low cost Nexus 7 which are cheap and have beautiful displays. I think we are slowly reaching a point where Apple can no longer count on their ecosystem to hold people to Apple products. Nice big bright super high resolution phones by the competition is slowing going to eat them up, plus their are the cheaper phones that have great specs too.
They're out their minds if they don't introduce an iPhone 6 at this point. The competition is tougher than ever. I believe in Apple though !!!
Why is the rumored low cost phone "dubbed" 5C but the new iPhone is known to be '5S'
How does anyone know that it will be called 5S?
Says Who!!! Please tell me, thank you
edit: don't tell me about 'patterns'
It seems Apple is holding these events earlier and earlier from the 2011 October event. I wouldnt be surprised if next years iPhone 6 (or whatever) event is held in August.
Seriously can't wait to upgrade from my 4s to the new iPhone

iOS 7 needs a lot of work to be ready in a month or so.
In what world is $490 or even $450 considered cheap?
you're on the wrong site, you mean to post on MacTruths.com.
Hint: it's empty, we never know anything for sure.
Hint #2: that's why this is called MacRumors.

October 2011 was an outlier. It was a supply chain misstep. The goal is to launch an iPhone at the very end of September, to get new iPhones sold during the very very end of Q3, to prop up those quarterly numbers with 5-8M phones sold in that week or so. And then the rest sold in Q4 as normal.
