I figure if it's an iPhone launch and you order like 2 weeks prior to it shipping, I'd say that's a legit pre-order. But the ATV is basically shipping days after the order date.

I believe pre-order means they can not ship it right away and it is a New Product. Not just "out of stock". In this case you place an order for the ATV with overnight shipping but they can not start shipping it that day like a normal order. I personally do not care if you call it pre-order or order but I think that is why they are referring to it as a pre-order.

I ordered at 8:42AM EST on Monday, 64gb, free shipping to NYC. Still PFS...
 
Received shipping notification email from FedEx and shipping status changed on apple.com 5 minutes ago.
 
BTW using Mail Innovations to look seems to show 1 package (without detail or tracking information) irregardless of date range using phone number and zip, is there something I'm missing ? Tried with FedEx as well but that doesn't show anything

Ordered last night around 9 p.m. with free shipping, got a tracking number today at 1:32.

My order has shipped! I'm in Seattle, ordered the 32GB ATV at about 5:48am Monday morning and chose overnight shipping. My order page is still showing PFS but the tracking info just showed up in my FedEx Delivery Manager and is set to be delivered before 10:30am tomorrow!
 
Ordered with free shipping on Monday and I just got a notice saying it's being delivered tomorrow. I was surprised by the delivery date but psyched!
 
I ordered before 10AM EST with expedited shipping. I just got my UPS tracking number showing a delivery date of Monday.

Stinks because it's not consistent. Even with iPhone or iPad pre orders people who preorder within a defined amount of time usually get their shipment on release day bar something out of the ordinary. No clue why this would be different considering I've never not received anything on release day. Unfortunately closest apple store is more than two hours away.


EDIT:

I'm so confused. UPS Tracking says Monday. Apple's email says tomorrow. Any ideas?

Called Apple and they say on their side it shows Tomorrow yet UPS website says nope it'll be here on Monday still.

I just got my notification that it has shipped. I can't see much info yet but it should be coming from Mount Juliet TN since I live in MJ hahah. Set for delivery on Friday :)
 
Well, I'm less upset with Apple now because mine is showing up on FedEx.com with a delivery date for tomorrow, still says PFS on Apple.com. Still wish I hadn't paid extra for overnight since most people seem to be getting it tomorrow anyway.

Seems that overnight orders will definitely make it tomorrow for the most part and free shipping may depending on your order time and location.

Also ordered next day shipping and mine still says preparing. I'm also in NYC.

Maybe they're shipping from Apple's Philly shipping hub and the NYC orders haven't shipped yet?

hmm. actually mine has the same contradiction right now. Either is ultimately fine but after the e-mail I got my hopes up for tomorrow.

ETA: I'm in Pittsburgh PA.

Mines showing shipped. FedEx. Does anyone know if I have to be there and sign for this?

Yeah, I paid for overnight, still PFS. How do you check fedex without tracking? Order # as reference?

My email from Apple says that it will be delivered tomorrow, but UPS tracking shows Monday for delivery. I opted in for free shipping and I'm in Elizabethtown, KY, about 40 minutes south of Worldport in Louisville.
 
Using Fed Ex track by reference, I'm showing a Saturday delivery. I ordered relatively early Monday with free shipping. Still says Preparing for Shipment on Apple.com.
 
I ordered within 5 minutes of it being available, and it shipped today with an expected delivery before end of day tomorrow. Free express shipping, DHL, to Sweden. It originates from Eindhoven, NL.
 
Ok, here's my update.

Ordered my 32GB ATV at 9:15AM Central, free shipping. Apple.com and Apple Store app both still show PFS, Nov 2-4 (Free 2 business day shipping). My ATV is still not on the SupportProfile website.

I've been checking both FedEx and UPS almost every hour all day. It just popped up on Fedex using my phone number. Shipping label has been created and my phone is in Mount Juliet, TN. Scheduled delivery is by 10/31 end of day.

I don't think so. The FedEx app doesn't show a requirement either.

I'm in NE Tn.

And yes I called Apple and they said everything in their systems says tomorrow. So weird, I've never seen this before however I've seen issues with UPS as recent as this week with them saying they delivered something only to deliver it the next day.

At this point hoping it's an error with UPS which is weird but considering they already messed up once this week that seems likely.
