Apple TV 4 Pre-Order Thread

To add insult to injury... Tried to return my online ordered 64G ATV4 (Oct. 26) at my local Apple Store today. They couldn't process it as the "system was down." I jokingly remarked that the system was probably crashed by all those who preordered and were trying to return their ATV4s all at once. The Apple Store guys were oblivious to the whole preorder mess and I explained what I meant by everyone trying to make returns at the same time. About that time the guy who had been on the phone to the mother ship, trying to find out why he couldn't process the refund, says that the system is crashed because too many people across the country are trying to return the same item. I would have to try again later. I tried to be pissed but I found the whole thing so surreal, and the store guys were genuinely contrite so I just thanked them and said I'd see them tomorrow.

Glad I got my return taken care of last night then. Hopefully Apple learns from all this for future releases.

Well, at long last, out of the distance did a mangy dog and a couple of ponies show up (I will let you draw any inferences on that one) leading the way for a creaky and shredded buggy with a haggard dusty brown uniformed man at the helm. He reached into the back and handed out a shiny ebony box emblazoned with an iconic symbol.
No questions were asked nor opinion given other than a barely perceptible nod, the buggy turned and faded quickly into the ever increasing darkness and snow.
I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight...."Oh please dear spirits, can they get the next release right!.".

This thread has been a real slice folks, both entertaining and supportive in the collective misery that was the 4th gen release. Good luck to those still waiting, and good luck with the returns.

Sweet! I ordered my 64 GB Apple TV from B&H Photo and it will be delivered tomorrow. Saved $16 in sales tax.

If anyone else wants to go this route, B&H Photo has them in stock...

Update: Loving the new AppleTV I bought off the shelf on Oct. 31. Finally was able to return (on the second attempt) the one I ordered online on Oct. 26.

The moral of the story: Don't do a preorder if they won't say when the thing will be available in the stores.... unless it's for an iPhone.

Offtipic: anyone figure out how to show info / description for a tv show? The tv shows on my media server / iTunes library all have a description and I was able to see it on my Apple TV 2 and 3 but the new Apple TV when is wipe down I see title and that's it. Same thing with the Hulu and Netflix app. They show it before you play the show but during it you can pull up the info.

Can't find anything on apples site. Anyone have an idea?
