Which Apple TV will you get?

I have a theory that Apple didn't want to try to deliver them all in one day, to try to spread out the pressure on the delivery services. I know the carriers just hate Apple product release days, sometimes doubling their workload on that day.

The one I had ordered at 7:45am CT last Monday morning finally arrived this afternoon. I had already picked one up at Best Buy last Friday and since I get reward points for buying from them, the one that came today from Apple will be returned.

FedEx guy dropped my Apple TV off at about 9:30 am this morning. The wait was definitely annoying for this product, but after plugging it in, setting it up, and installing all my favorite apps, I came away super impressed. It blows the Samsung Smart Hub away by a country mile and is a huge improvement over the gen 3 I'm still going to use on our small living room TV.

I honestly think in a couple more CPU revisions, these things are going to replace our game consoles. Add FaceTime Audio/Video and iMessage to this thing and it's almost like turning your TV into a giant iPad.

Delivered!

Still nothing here yet. Other than a departure scan out of Concord, ON at 2 AM this morning.
Glad to see other folks on here are getting their units!

At least when it does arrive, I will have a very good idea as to what the gen4 is capable of thanks to the other posters willing to offer their tips, tricks and reviews.

Yeah, the second was a good bit easier to set up. Lol. I had the iPad ready to read my Apple ID password off of and activate Showtime on... All the stuff that gave me fits the first time. And all the apps you bought are in Purchased so you don't need to search for them.

Finally got mine! I am impressed though, it was easy to set up, and I can even adjust the TV volume even though my TV doesn't officially support CEC. Also if you purchased HBO, Netflix, etc. through iTunes, you don't have to re-enter the passwords, just click restore purchase and boom you're in. I sent the buggy on towards Wreckus' house, should be trotting over the hill soon.

Amazing the one I ordered with 17 express, was sent ground ups came today. It's on its way back since I picked one up at BB, used my reward points so it was a win that I didn't get it on time.

Apple support on the phone said some that paid extra actually took longer to ship then sticking with free.

LOL, no buggy one pls. I should have mine tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for the info about don't have to re-enter passwords, did't know that before.

I ordered mine Oct 26 and received it on Nov 4. (Free shipping, I'm in the eastern US). I hope the others who were waiting get theirs soon.

In my case UPS received the unit on Saturday, but moving it from Ontario, CA to Redmond, WA took a day longer than planned so they could not deliver it a day early, per the original schedule. So I am guessing it was more a case of the carrier's networks were the point of delay, not Apple failing to get them the items in a timely manner.

What it makes me realize is what a herculean effort it must be to get iPhone launches to go as smoothly as they do. Given the relatively small interest the Apple TV generates I'm sure they didn't do whatever voodoo they do to scatter iPhones around the world.

I still haven't received mine in Canada. UPS has been in limbo with no updates since Monday with scheduled delivery nov 6.

That stinks. But I did notice today that the status updates are really late. think the status to out for delivery finally came about 3-5 hours after it was actually out for deliver.

Really glad I'm back on days starting next week. No reason to order online anymore since I won't be home to accept the shipment in the afternoon.

waiting and picking up at my nears apple store >>>>>>>>> ordering online and wait for the UPS horse & carriage waiting game.

Still no sign of the horse and buggy here. Even tried the idea of picking it up at the UPS depot. That didn't happen. I do find it really hard to fathom that all these units were expedited by ground transport.

Have set aside a bag of apples (no pun intended) for the horses and a pound of bison jerky for the drivers on their long trek back to the big smoke....

LOL. Now my UPS tracking shows no information available for delivery date. Have no clue what's up.

To add insult to injury... Tried to return my online ordered 64G ATV4 (Oct. 26) at my local Apple Store today. They couldn't process it as the "system was down." I jokingly remarked that the system was probably crashed by all those who preordered and were trying to return their ATV4s all at once. The Apple Store guys were oblivious to the whole preorder mess and I explained what I meant by everyone trying to make returns at the same time. About that time the guy who had been on the phone to the mother ship, trying to find out why he couldn't process the refund, says that the system is crashed because too many people across the country are trying to return the same item. I would have to try again later. I tried to be pissed but I found the whole thing so surreal, and the store guys were genuinely contrite so I just thanked them and said I'd see them tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up, I finally received my pre-ordered one yesterday, and was thinking about going to my local store to return it tonight. I'll wait a few days.
