Y'all been claiming a new Apple TV is coming for years.
For some reason that's how MR operates-they repeat the same article over and over and may get blocked for mentioning itMR just regurgitates the same article every few weeks now?
Literally the only feature that matters, I'd love to ditch this 2019 Nvidia ShieldFingers crossed for Hi-res lossless and audio passthrough support. It’s ironic that despite having one of the best audio services for hi-fi audio, no Apple device has a way to fully take advantage of it except through a USB connection from Mac/iphone. High end home theater systems are the most likely thing for consumers to have that can actually benefit from this.
Find My for a remote sounds like a no-brainer. Cost should be low to add that feature. How about support for multiple remotes and Find My in the remotes?
I would pay $300 for an Apple TV 4K just for the way it doesn't pepper you with ads throughout the entire interface. You can pick up a 1080p 55" TCL LCD TV for under 300 bucks nowadays. Who is gonna buy an overpriced, one button TV from Apple?
That would be very Apple. Having a hardware product called Apple Arcade, and a subscription called Apple Arcade lolI know it will never happen, but how about an Apple TV Pro? Call it Apple Arcade and put PlayStation-level games on it. I bet they could even undercut Sony and Microsoft on price. Apple TV as a streaming box, and Apple Arcade as a streaming box + game console.
But even Google is still making streaming devices. Dedicated hardware will always perform better then whatever they are trying to shoehorn into your TV, imoEven Google got rid of the Chromecast because every TV has this functionality built-in now, I would bet this product line is done, Not sure what the point of another generation would be
I can't foresee Apple spending time engineering a model with a camera unless they had the continuity data that supports FT being used on ATVI still don’t get why people put cameras on their TVs. Do you want to be watched how you watch TV by big tech? And no I bet people don’t face time on their TVs.
I don't see ads on my TCL unless I watch OTA streaming.I would pay $300 for an Apple TV 4K just for the way it doesn't pepper you with ads throughout the entire interface.
To be fair, Macrumors has been running this same story now for over a year, so back when they first started with it, tvOS 26 was a new thing. How is tvOS 26 a rumor or feature? The current model already runs that, so isn't that obvious?
Errr... I do, whether facetime or teams. Try doing a group call with family and relatives on a phone. oh wait....I still don’t get why people put cameras on their TVs. Do you want to be watched how you watch TV by big tech? And no I bet people don’t face time on their TVs.
exactly. Especially if you want to share the antics of small children or pets running around the room. Great for families that live far apart.Errr... I do, whether facetime or teams. Try doing a group call with family and relatives on a phone. oh wait....
I love my Apple TV. Compared to my "smart" TV, it runs smoothly, gets updates for years, and has no ads. But I wouldn't buy another one. I only use my TV to stream my series and movies, maybe a few times a month. For the price and the frequency I use it, it's not worth it. Especially when you have a $300 TV. A streaming box for $129 is too expensive compared to the TV prices. On the other hand, if it also supported gaming, it would be worth it.You can pick up a 1080p 55" TCL LCD TV for under 300 bucks nowadays. Who is gonna buy an overpriced, one button TV from Apple?
Sure, there are outliers, but almost every single TV on the market today is a digital billboard before it's a TV. I think for a lot of people the decision is to buy an Apple TV 4K to "upgrade" their TV instead of replacing it with a whole new one.I don't see ads on my TCL unless I watch OTA streaming.
