How about 4K 120Hz support?

120 is pretty much the perfect refresh rate.

24, 30, and 60 all divide evenly into 120, allowing you to watch pretty much any content with no judder, without having to switch refresh rates.

This is the biggest feature I want from a new Apple TV and is actually good enough to make me upgrade from my existing 4K Apple TV.

Fingers crossed for Hi-res lossless and audio passthrough support. It’s ironic that despite having one of the best audio services for hi-fi audio, no Apple device has a way to fully take advantage of it except through a USB connection from Mac/iphone. High end home theater systems are the most likely thing for consumers to have that can actually benefit from this.

I don't see the advantage of a built in camera, but I do see adding the ability to add your own via USB. I'd like that just to make it easy to have FaceTime (or others) calls where I can have a group in my family room and whoever's on the other side can see all the people and my dogs as they talk and move about the room.

Literally the only feature that matters, I'd love to ditch this 2019 Nvidia Shield

We're at 3 years now since the last ATV (4k.) They've never gone 4 full years. So I'm going to predict an ATV 4k comes before next (not this) Halloween.

I know it will never happen, but how about an Apple TV Pro? Call it Apple Arcade and put PlayStation-level games on it. I bet they could even undercut Sony and Microsoft on price. Apple TV as a streaming box, and Apple Arcade as a streaming box + game console.
That would be very Apple. Having a hardware product called Apple Arcade, and a subscription called Apple Arcade lol

I still don’t get why people put cameras on their TVs. Do you want to be watched how you watch TV by big tech? And no I bet people don’t face time on their TVs.

Even Google got rid of the Chromecast because every TV has this functionality built-in now, I would bet this product line is done, Not sure what the point of another generation would be
But even Google is still making streaming devices. Dedicated hardware will always perform better then whatever they are trying to shoehorn into your TV, imo

I think multiscreen sports streams from different apps is desirable. That might take some more horsepower and RAM.

It would be nice if they could crack a whip on the sub-standard apps. I feel like Youtube, Peacock and Prime among others are substandard.

contrast that with the NBA app which albeit still has its share of bugs/crashes but at least it uses what appears to be the same streaming functionality as Apple's ATV app. And thus it is a joy to get around in it.

Not sure what else I would need. The remote isn't perfect. Not in love with it. Miss the edge tapping of the old remote. I did a YTTV trial, not that I would sign up for it long term or anything, but I realized without being able to edge tap on the new remote you can't skip ahead or go back 10 seconds at a time quick enough. And it kills that functionality.

I can't foresee Apple spending time engineering a model with a camera unless they had the continuity data that supports FT being used on ATV

How is tvOS 26 a rumor or feature? The current model already runs that, so isn't that obvious?
To be fair, Macrumors has been running this same story now for over a year, so back when they first started with it, tvOS 26 was a new thing. :)

I'd like to to see two models of Apple TV in the next update. One is the $99 bare-bones streamer box that everyone wants....wifi-only, lower end processor, etc. Then a $149/$199 dollar box that has the bells and whistles. Faster hard drive, more storage, Ethernet, Wifi 7, Thread, Front-facing camera for Facetime, etc.

Probably won't get any of that, but a guy can dream.

You can pick up a 1080p 55" TCL LCD TV for under 300 bucks nowadays. Who is gonna buy an overpriced, one button TV from Apple?
I love my Apple TV. Compared to my "smart" TV, it runs smoothly, gets updates for years, and has no ads. But I wouldn't buy another one. I only use my TV to stream my series and movies, maybe a few times a month. For the price and the frequency I use it, it's not worth it. Especially when you have a $300 TV. A streaming box for $129 is too expensive compared to the TV prices. On the other hand, if it also supported gaming, it would be worth it.
