If it doesn’t get announced next week it probably won’t hit the store shelves this yr unfortunately..

I would love one for X’mas but I’m not holding my breath!

Seriously how is it going to improve?
No point going whateverK, no content or tv’s in general that good.
Maybe voice command without the remote with integrated Siri?
Make it a home hub also controlling lights, doorbells etc maybe, but would come with a hefty price tag.

I am looking forward to WIFI 7 on a new Apple TV 4k, my neighborhood is full of 2.4ghz and 5ghz, been shifting to 6ghz WIFI 7, started 2 years ago. Also think that I am going to get a new TV next year with dolby vision 2. So a new Apple TV with both would be good for me for many years of video streaming services. This faster processor should handle 8k video, as we move forward with higher video quality.

There is no significant value to adding a camera on a setup box it will be a cool feature to begin with and then the affects will wear off for the general consumer
The only use I would get out of it is if it could be used for "just dance" or similar. We still have an Xbox One X with Kinect so my wife can work out to that and a couple of similar games.

Facetime on an AppleTV? Wouldn't use it a single time.

It’s wild how they been updating everything else like horny rabbits the last few years but this has sat stagnant for so long. I’ve really been wanting to get a new one for over a year and been waiting through each rumor of a new device coming. Apple has really lost their magic touch. Am I in a cult? Should I leave? 💅🏻

They haven't really updated the Airpods Max either, unfortunately. Updated versions of that and the AppleTV would be instant buys (x2 in case of the ATV).

Exactly the one that was last released is perfectly adequate enough because individuals don’t change their tv’s that often

The current version can already do that, it has Thread support.

As for improvements - better chip means better ML capabilities. A better upscale would be nice, just look at AI upscale of old SD series on YouTube.

That's one great thing about the apple TV - it's cheap and easy to replace, much more so than a good TV. No need to replace the latter when the system and the apps get slower, unmaintained, and insecure as time passes

It’s a streaming box why does it matter if you’re apps take an extra 5 seconds to load
There is practically no need to replace this box if you have the 2nd or 3rd generation apple 4k box

Lossless audio streaming (bitstream) would be a pretty decent upgrade together with a higher quality streaming from TV shows and movies and offering to buy better quality content too.

It’s been implemented into tvOS26 but not fully. I expect they will introduce it with the new HW and also show brag about providing the highest quality content too
