that's contradicting, if there were a camera - it would be a significant re-design.
Having said that, imho a camera wold be an unnecessary and for me unwanted "feature".
I would love to have a separate camera connected as an ad-on. This way you can still put the "Apple TV 4K" wherever you want and position the camera as needed.

I think new apple TV is coming….Sams Club and Cotsco already have deals on actual models and are cleaning inventory

I am in the process of upgrading my 5.1 surround sound system and Home Theater system. Step 1, The 13 year old 2012 Denon receiver being replaced with a 2025 model, so better Audio codecs, WIFI, Bluetooth, a lot of technology upgrades

Step 2, replacing the 5 year old Google TV with a more powerful streamer with better video and audio formats. I was an early adopter of WIFI 7, 3 years ago and live in a congested WIFI area, so I am always looking for better WIFI stabilazation of streaming.

Step 3 will be replacing the 10 year old Samsung 65in 3D TV, This TV 240hz still has a great picture, but a New OLED TV still is a big chunk upgrade so I might wait until after the 2026 consumer electronics show to see what might be coming.

So this is my process for the next 6 months :)

It’s hilarious because when i worked as a cable guy like 95% of my customers always wanted their stuff hidden. Even I keep mine behind the tv for that reason, it is indeed an unwanted.

Coming from
2012 until now the biggest shock is seeing how expensive everything’s gotten. Even receivers are like over 1k for dolby atmos setups or 9.1 if you dont have the speakers. Dont forget to swap out the hdmi cords for both input and output!

I had an onkyo like six years ago and switched to a Pioneer elite, but dude, everything was easier back then, it’s a process for sure. But best of luck! It can be fun and frustrating

It’s wild how they been updating everything else like horny rabbits the last few years but this has sat stagnant for so long. I’ve really been wanting to get a new one for over a year and been waiting through each rumor of a new device coming. Apple has really lost their magic touch. Am I in a cult? Should I leave? 💅🏻

Actually thought this was an old article that someone posted on to bring it back but nope-created yesterday.

Just buy the current model folks-until I see an official announcement I’ll take it that the app is the higher priority at this moment in time.

They could add Wii like controls for the remote and readd the gyroscope so that you can use the remote like a magic wand and implement a way for it to interact with Apple Vision

And add a gesture like control interface like with Microsoft Kinect

And add all of this in preparation to interact with Apple Vision in a real 3D environment

Maybe later add those functions into a 3D Apple Pencil similar to that Logitech Muse

Now start with novel control schemes to interact with a 2D display Antwort your way up to a real 3D interface design and interaction

Even Google got rid of the Chromecast because every TV has this functionality built-in now, I would bet this product line is done, Not sure what the point of another generation would be
Our Roku TV dropped an autoplay ad on us back in the spring, and I immediately bought an Apple TV 4K. With ARC and CEC, I bypass the Roku home page entirely. As long as the majority of "smart" TVs are playing the advertising and monetization game, there will be a need for an Apple TV box.

What I want is the ability to toggle a VPN.

The folks who complain about a lack of vision will be the first to complain about a price hike. Folks who complain about price hikes will be the first to complain about falling margins if they have a 401k or mutual fund that holds AAPL.
A built-in VPN client would be fun, but as it stands, I have my Deco router set to route the Apple TV and Roku TV through the VPN client on the router when I turn it on. It doesn't affect any other devices connected to our network.

I am concerned with heat dissipation in this new device. I have a first gen Apple TV 4K, which had a built-in fan. I've used it daily for about 5 years, and it has sat inside the wall near my TV (with minimal airflow) for the last 2 years alongside a Frame TV box. And it still works like a charm.

I'm more than willing to pay for an upgrade (if nothing else to get rid of the black remote) - but I am worried that it's going to overheat in my setup...
If it ends up being an issue, there are small fans you can get that would provide extra cooling across the AppleTV. I've had to use similar things on Intel Mac mini's in enclosed spaces at work (either to help vent the space, or just to push air across the device.)
The last 2 generations of AppleTV have not had a fan, so likely isn't an issue. Doing video playback using the built-in decoders the newer chips use very little power (I've had an M4 Mac mini running video output to 2 screens for over a week now with projection mapping and edge blending, and it is room temperature). Using it for gaming may require more cooling though.

But will the new Apple TV 4K fix bad TV's and projector HDMI syncing issues?

What a mess! Every time I pause and the screen saver pops up I seem to lose sync.

The new Apple TV 4K needs an HDMI cable qualification testing tool in there somewhere.

How about 4K 120Hz support?

120 is pretty much the perfect refresh rate.

24, 30, and 60 all divide evenly into 120, allowing you to watch pretty much any content with no judder, without having to switch refresh rates.

This is the biggest feature I want from a new Apple TV and is actually good enough to make me upgrade from my existing 4K Apple TV.
Wait a few more years.

Turtle Tim doesn't innovate that fast.

Y'all been claiming a new Apple TV is coming for years.

The 4th-gen Apple TV 4K rumors have been lurking for so long that it already seems outdated.

I'm lusting after the next device, a 1st-gen Apple TV 8K!
Coming January 9, 2027 for the 20 year anniversary 😂 😮‍💨 🫠

Fingers crossed for Hi-res lossless and audio passthrough support. It’s ironic that despite having one of the best audio services for hi-fi audio, no Apple device has a way to fully take advantage of it except through a USB connection from Mac/iphone. High end home theater systems are the most likely thing for consumers to have that can actually benefit from this.
I agree. So weird. This would make it the ONLY Apple device that can out-of-the-box use their own Hi-Res audio service.

I'm starting to think the Snoopy screensaver was just a hint at the Lucy/Charlie Brown football move we all seem to go through re: a new device...
