If your TV is US$300, you're definitely not the target for this type of device. You can pick up a 1080p 55" TCL LCD TV for under 300 bucks nowadays. Who is gonna buy an overpriced, one button TV from Apple?

I would love to have a separate camera connected as an ad-on. This way you can still put the "Apple TV 4K" wherever you want and position the camera as needed.that's contradicting, if there were a camera - it would be a significant re-design.
Having said that, imho a camera wold be an unnecessary and for me unwanted "feature".
There's no need for the Apple TV box to be located within view in the living room.I know they wont but having the ATV in different colours would be interesting. It's a lifestyle product.
Too many black boxes which look harsh in the living room.
It’s hilarious because when i worked as a cable guy like 95% of my customers always wanted their stuff hidden. Even I keep mine behind the tv for that reason, it is indeed an unwanted.that's contradicting, if there were a camera - it would be a significant re-design.

Coming fromI am in the process of upgrading my 5.1 surround sound system and Home Theater system. Step 1, The 13 year old 2012 Denon receiver being replaced with a 2025 model, so better Audio codecs, WIFI, Bluetooth, a lot of technology upgrades
Step 2, replacing the 5 year old Google TV with a more powerful streamer with better video and audio formats. I was an early adopter of WIFI 7, 3 years ago and live in a congested WIFI area, so I am always looking for better WIFI stabilazation of streaming.
Step 3 will be replacing the 10 year old Samsung 65in 3D TV, This TV 240hz still has a great picture, but a New OLED TV still is a big chunk upgrade so I might wait until after the 2026 consumer electronics show to see what might be coming.
So this is my process for the next 6 months![]()
Let's assume that N represents that number of "coming soon". It follows that this "coming soon" would make N+1 times. Does that make it clearer? How many times will Apple TV 4K "coming soon" happen?
Our Roku TV dropped an autoplay ad on us back in the spring, and I immediately bought an Apple TV 4K. With ARC and CEC, I bypass the Roku home page entirely. As long as the majority of "smart" TVs are playing the advertising and monetization game, there will be a need for an Apple TV box.Even Google got rid of the Chromecast because every TV has this functionality built-in now, I would bet this product line is done, Not sure what the point of another generation would be
A built-in VPN client would be fun, but as it stands, I have my Deco router set to route the Apple TV and Roku TV through the VPN client on the router when I turn it on. It doesn't affect any other devices connected to our network. What I want is the ability to toggle a VPN.
The folks who complain about a lack of vision will be the first to complain about a price hike. Folks who complain about price hikes will be the first to complain about falling margins if they have a 401k or mutual fund that holds AAPL.
If it ends up being an issue, there are small fans you can get that would provide extra cooling across the AppleTV. I've had to use similar things on Intel Mac mini's in enclosed spaces at work (either to help vent the space, or just to push air across the device.)I am concerned with heat dissipation in this new device. I have a first gen Apple TV 4K, which had a built-in fan. I've used it daily for about 5 years, and it has sat inside the wall near my TV (with minimal airflow) for the last 2 years alongside a Frame TV box. And it still works like a charm.
I'm more than willing to pay for an upgrade (if nothing else to get rid of the black remote) - but I am worried that it's going to overheat in my setup...
Wait a few more years.How about 4K 120Hz support?
120 is pretty much the perfect refresh rate.
24, 30, and 60 all divide evenly into 120, allowing you to watch pretty much any content with no judder, without having to switch refresh rates.
This is the biggest feature I want from a new Apple TV and is actually good enough to make me upgrade from my existing 4K Apple TV.
Y'all been claiming a new Apple TV is coming for years.
Most recent Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen) introduced November '22.I think if Apple doesn’t announce it this Tuesday or Wednesday, or next week’s, they won’t release it this year :/. They've never announced an Apple TV this late before.
I agree. So weird. This would make it the ONLY Apple device that can out-of-the-box use their own Hi-Res audio service.Fingers crossed for Hi-res lossless and audio passthrough support. It’s ironic that despite having one of the best audio services for hi-fi audio, no Apple device has a way to fully take advantage of it except through a USB connection from Mac/iphone. High end home theater systems are the most likely thing for consumers to have that can actually benefit from this.
I have no idea what half of these sentences mean, but I think I agree with you.
