I assume those that ordered the ATV will get the remote for that device in that shipment. I think a number of people ordered just the remote. I ordered an ATV and a new ATV remote as my current 4k ATV will go to my son's playroom with a new remote and the new ATV 4K will go into my lounge. Not the Remote? Shouldn't both be shipping around the same time?
even if apple had thrown in a "better chip", this was not at all going to be your better option if your alternate consideration was an xbox series s. even though xbox hardly has a library of exclusive game options that make it a worthwhile console to have, it's still a much much better gaming option vs apple's arcade selection.I just don’t think this is a good value. They could have put a better chip in this and really hit a home run with gaming. But alas, this is apple we’re talking about. I was eager for this update and ready to buy. But after seeing the specs. Eh. No. I may just get an Xbox series S for $100 more.
Does anyone have experience switching from one Apple TV to another?
OH for sure! Nice, I'll try to get rid of mine as well.Sold it to a friend. Got $80 for a 4 year old Apple TV that was my most used device aside from my iPhone. Used it every day for every single day of those 4 years. Not a bad return on investment.
Have fun with that. Series S is an awful experience. I avoid mine whenever humanly possible.I just don’t think this is a good value. Honestly, as I wait for the new Apple TV's, I'm using the built in Google TV on my Sony A8H and actually enjoying it as a replacement. I'm a HomeKit enthusiast though and I miss being able to pull up my surveillance camera on the Apple TV and the Thread support is an added bonus. Having the Hue Sync box also makes it more useful to have an external box since I can't feed to A8H into the Hue Sync. But all in all pretty happy with the built in Google TV, the Apple TV app and the other apps that are available.I was going to buy a new Apple TV when I finally get my new Sony TV but I may not if Google TV is actually worthwhile.
That's quite useful for me. Thank you. Do apps like Netflix run well on it? Netflix is one app that often gets ignored on my Apple TV but the experience feels better on the A8H and also has Netflix calibrated mode. I'm likely to use Netflix on the TV rather than the Apple TV once they arrive. Apps like Hulu, HBO Max, Disney+ and YouTube feel exactly the same as they do on the Apple TV and for the most part so does Apple TV+
Why not sell your old ones online? I sold mine for an avg of $120. And basically using that to pay towards new ones. 32k versions. So it was like getting new ones for a $60 difference.I cancelled my order and just did the remote. I couldn't justify the extra cost for a very incremental upgrade to the 2017 Apple TV 4K. The new remote, however, was an easy buy especially since I just shattered my Siri Remote.

Is demand not that high? I am not surprised if that is true, but I ordered around two weeks ago and have the date of May 24th to June 1st. It is replacing my apple TV from 2013, so it is most definitely worth it for me.
I don't think it's a good value either. I have the 4th Gen Apple TV, don't get me wrong it really does some nice things but its not $179 nice. I recently purchased the new Google Chromecast for $50 and that is a really good value. It's fast, the new style remote is great and I prefer Google Assistant over Siri any day.I just don’t think this is a good value. In Switzerland: still processing. Ordered 10 minutes after store opened, initially delivery was ‘21-27 May’, yesterday it was ‘2-3 weeks’, today it’s 27 May. ??Anyone in Europe have any movement on their order? Mine still processing.
Wow, I'm the complete opposite. I hate navigating menus with the Siri Remote, I bought an old aluminium Apple Remote to use instead. I'm really looking forward to the new Apple TV Remote - looks like the best of both worlds (accurate menu navigation using the directional buttons like on Apple Remote, smooth and accurate scrolling through a video using touch like on Siri Remote).Mine is prepping to ship:

I sold my tv ahead of receiving this one and have tried using the Apple TV 2 I had in storage. Yikes, it’s easy to forget but that thing was a pain to use. AirPlay was slow, laggy, and unreliable and navigating the menus with a 4 point clicker was difficult. We’ve all been spoiled by tvOS, AirPlay 2 and yes, the Siri remote with swipe navigation.
Can’t wait for the new one to arrive!
Wouldn't that be rather impractical? You press a button on the remote and the event happens on all five TVs?Can the new remote be paired to more than one Apple TV? I have 5 ATV’s all last gen
Same for meAnyone in the UK has any movement on anything ordered on the 30th? This and my iPad haven’t moved from processing!
Meanwhile, elsewhere on macrumours everyone is losing their sh_t that the chip they put in the iPad Pro is *too* powerful. ?I just don’t think this is a good value.
