Anyone else in the UK surprised so few places will be stocking this thing? There is of course Apple, and Amazon but other than that no other retail is bothering. Not even Currys PCWorld or Argos. Shame because I was looking to score a discount (which I can get via other retailers) as I need to buy more than one unit.

I don't think it's a good value either. I have the 4th Gen Apple TV, don't get me wrong it really does some nice things but its not $179 nice. I recently purchased the new Google Chromecast for $50 and that is a really good value.
Some people still don’t understand the difference between paying with money and paying with personal data …

Anyone in the UK has any movement on anything ordered on the 30th? This and my iPad haven’t moved from processing!

I’m in the UK an both this an my ipad are still on processing. Ordered on the 30th 2 minutes after the store reopenned for preorders

Same here. Ordered within a couple of minutes of going on sale but have a 27 May estimated date with the status still on “Processing”. I can only guess that here in the UK that’s the earliest we can hope for 🙁

Still, glass half full take on this is that the rumours prior to the event were that the ATV wouldn’t see an update until Q4, so at least it’s not as long as that!!

Why not sell your old ones online? I sold mine for an avg of $120. And basically using that to pay towards new ones. 32k versions. So it was like getting new ones for a $60 difference.
I would have but I have a shattered remote which would easily decrease the amount I could get for it so I just went with the new remote. Realistically, the new Apple TV 4K will be identical to what I’ve got. If it had the A12X or A13, hell even the A14 and I would have upgraded, but there’s really no major new features for the type of content we consume.

Wouldn't that be rather impractical? You press a button on the remote and the event happens on all five TVs?
I thought it was IR but now that I think of it, it does have Bluetooth. DUH. I have 5 TV's. One gets used a lot, one not as much and the others on occasion. I absolutely hate the old remotes. Guess I could just pair and re-pair on occasion but that's kind of a hassle. I really don't want to have to buy 5 remotes. Maybe I'll put in a word in my suggestion box. 😜😜

I just don’t think this is a good value. They could have put a better chip in this and really hit a home run with gaming. But alas, this is apple we’re talking about. I was eager for this update and ready to buy. But after seeing the specs. Eh. No. I may just get an Xbox series S for $100 more.
I was the same, ended up just getting the remote (I was one of the seemingly few who adored the original remote but man this new remote is much better) as the jump from the original AppleTV 4K to this one wasn't great or better than I expected. There are rumblings of a gaming-specific AppleTV in the near future so if true I'll see what that one is all about.

I like the new remote. It's basically features from every other Apple TV remote, with a couple extra (the scroll wheel like on the iPod classic) all rolled into one.

You could get some of the old aluminium Apple Remotes - they’re IR only, and they’re so much nicer than the Siri Remote.

And some people still don't understand that everyone is tracking you and selling your data, including Apple. At least Google is up front about it, which you can opt-out if you like. Check your Safari privacy settings in MacOS Big Sur or on an iDevice. It's similar wording to Windows 10.

It's not so much the tracking they do, it's what THEY DO with the tracking that bothers me.

Good idea! THANKS!
Come to think of it, it might be a good deal to snap some extras up now. I dunno about you but I could totally see them ceasing production/sale of these soon. In fact I'm kinda surprised they haven't already.

I have a spare still in it's box just in case they stop making them and I need a replacement.

There are quite a few rumors speculating that an additional Apple TV geared for gaming will be announced in the fourth quarter of this year. So I'm holding off to see if these rumors come to fruition. Because at this point I'm in total agreement with you. This version is a bad joke in my opinion.

Did anyone else preorder from Best Buy or more specifically Best Buy Canada? I got a slight discount on gift cards so I went through them for the first time on an Apple preorder and I wonder how much longer it might take, if at all.

I've never been a big gamer although I did pick up 2 controllers for the Apple TV when what's now known as the Apple TV HD came out but recently picked up the Switch so the lower GPU isn't that much of a bother.

Hi, I wonder if in Germany it's similar to the UK. Because I ordered the Apple TV minutes after it was possible on the 30th of April but still don't see any update to the estimated delivery date (which is oddly May 28th).

Seems most (all?) Europeans are in the same situation. Looking likely we’ll get it a week later than the U.S.

Can you provide proof that Apple is actually selling personal data? Would be genuinely interested!
No, he cannot and if he says he can he is lying. I mean it is healthy to be skeptical especially of big corps, I do not trust any of these companies either, I do know that Apple will accumulate your data, supposedly anonymously if you opt-in maybe Apple does some weird, "We didn't lie in our wording of the agreement you signed off on, you just didn't understand the context, lawyer f*ckery talk." but they hang a lot of their reputation on privacy and it would be devastating to Apple to have it revealed that they also collect and sell your data. Even not trusting Apple that fact makes them a little better than other companies in the privacy realm.

I have a 1gen 4k and was going to go with only the remote upgrade. Decided to go with the 2nd gen due to the 60hertz 4k refresh rate, to go with the new tv I just bought. Although I have no idea which streamers or rentals can make use of this. Anybody have any idea how it comes into play?
