Ugh, screw subscription services. I’m going back to buying movies/tv shows on iTunes…
I never stopped. And I worry about the future with shows like Stranger Things how will we be able to watch it 20 years from now? I still watch the original Star Trek.

Mines going up to $50 a month in Aus. But if I cancel news, arcade and TV it’ll still cost me $50. Might as well keep them sadly.
I do hate subsidising news and arcade though.

And that's after it went from £29.95 to £32.95 just this time last year.
Apple One Premier went from $42.95 in Australia to $49.95 just shy of $600 AUD a year. So a $7 a month increase over here. I do see value in it still as I have cancelled Netflix and I do use the features. But anymore increases will be hard to stomach I feel.

On a yearly pass in Portugal this is 100% increase (plus a cent).

February 2022 i paid €49.99. My renewal will be €99.99.

Prices went up €3 over here for the Apple One Family sub. (we're in no-Apple News 'land'), which is around 9%. Kids get a lot of fun from Apple Arcade, so value is just about still there for us.

Wah… I don’t know if I can afford the extra 8.3 cents per day for Apple TV+.

The sky is falling and Apple is being a meanie!

Wahhhhh.
Yes, in a vacuum this wouldn't be too much of an increase for most users. The problem is it isn't a vacuum. Just about every company is turning their products in to subscription services, and the cumulative costs of such services add up quickly.

Throw in the fact that these services receive price hikes (nearly) every year, and eventually one side is going to flinch. Will Apple ever stop raising these prices, because I can't imagine people are going to want to spend $5 a day just for Apple TV+ when there are other, more important expenses.

You're a perfect example of why this stuff is allowed to continue. It doesn't matter if it's only an extra 8.3 cents per day. It's the principle. Does this price increase cause anything to be tighter for me, money wise? Luckily no. Not even close. Doesn't impact anything else. But I AM getting sick and tired of prices being raised on everything with no additional value being placed into it. It's pretty tone-deaf for streaming companies, for example, to increase prices right now, considering the writers were on strike for so long and the frigging actors are still out. These companies are wanting more and more money out of us, but we aren't seeing a comparable increase in the value for it.

It's easy when all you're looking at is the actual number. In that way...yeah 8.3 cents per day doesn't sound too bad. But 20%, 30%, 40% (sometimes more) increases YoY...is ridiculous.

That's why I still value physical media. And if LIked the film/show enough I'll purchase it on 4KBluray or Bluray if it's not available. It's way too easy to be denied access. Either by censorship or price hikes to services.

My Apple TV+ subscription is due to end mid Jan. I went into the 'Subscriptions' section in iOS and saw that I could select the annual renewal of $69 so I chose that.

Now seeing

Here's hoping that works!
Just looked to try. Apple already changed the yearly but not the monthly. Guess they caught on quickly.

Apple One Premier (required given the paltry 200GB cloud storage of the "family Plan") now a whopping $455 a year. I definitely have to rethink the value of this expense.

Ok, Yeah...likely cancelling and moving back to just iCloud+ & Apple Music a la carte...which was all I really needed to begin with. Can't justify $120 a year for News, Fitness, Arcade, TV+ that are rarely used...especially when every other streamer also seems to be making crazy prices increases lately.

News+ ads
> I remove them in News+, Artifact and most other apps with AdGuard Pro & VPN, but don’t just leave the VPN on all the time because it freezes up several times a day and you have to change the VPN server to fix it.
