I wish Apple bought MGM so we could stream all the Bond films for free with TV+.

And in a way they’re doing that. I’m not saying it’s only worth $2.99 a month, but at $9.99, not so much.Steve Jobs had once explained why Apple didn’t have sales for their products. Consumers perceive your real value based off your lowest offered price.

It doesn’t just feel that way, they are actually losing over $1 billion per year on Apple TV+: https://www.macrumors.com/2025/03/20/report-tv-losing-1-billion-annually/It just feels like they’re having a little bit of trouble on the uptake here.
Yeah, Apple does sales “stealthily” through third parties. I was at the Apple Store a few years ago checking out a new iPhone and I saw someone looking at an iPad. He was all ready to buy it so I checked out the Best Buy and Amazon apps if this particular model was on sale. Yep it was and that was a lost sale for that particular store as he saved $100 thanks to me.And yet Apple regularly dumps sales thru Amazon, however never thru their retail or online stores.
For three months which isn’t bad, but not nearly as good as the 12 months we once got.You also get it for free with a new device, so…
Indeed. They are losing billions with Apple TV and desperately need to get their subscriber numbers up. The problem is people are getting used to 3 month deals and use that to binge a few shows, then leave.Desperate times calling for desperate measures apparently.

Apple is reportedly willing to lose $1 billion every year just to fuel its streaming ambitions
Unlike other peers, the streaming service's small library focuses almost exclusively on original content like Severance and Ted Lasso.fortune.com
If I spent $200+ on cable TV, I wouldn’t want to spend additional money on streaming services. I think most streaming services are targeted at people who already cut the cord. There’s no way I would pay for cable TV but I also don’t watch that much TV so it’s not worth it for me.I'm not willing to cough up any additional money than what Xfinity TV gets already.
I think you have a long wait for this. Apple TV+ has not matured enough to even be close to this level. Maybe one day but I’d say my guess would be at least five years or more.I'm waiting patiently for Apple TV Plus to offer a cheaper ad based version like so many others.
Still don't want it but looking forward to Apple joining the crowd.
It’s just to get people to try the service. It’s like a free trial or an introductory price for people who want to try it, but don’t want to invest money. I think you’re taking this way too seriouslyI've been an Apple user since 1987. I worked for Apple from 2004-2014. I will never leave the apple universe. But man do I hate to see Apple adopting that "screw the loyal customers, they won't leave, discounts for new money only." I mean the quality over quantity of their programming is unmatched in streaming. But I feel dismissed.

I don't pay $200+ on TV from Xfinity/Comcast but it now costs more to get my local sports channels. If I spent $200+ on cable TV, I wouldn’t want to spend additional money on streaming services.
