I have HBO for $2.99 for a year thanks to Black Friday and Paramount+ for $4 a month due to the same.Desperate times calling for desperate measures apparently.
To make money. The Apple TV is the best streaming box for OTT on the market. Not sure whatever prompted Apple to create the Apple TV box and Apple TV Plus.
I think you're more tolerant of this tactic than I am. I call it bait and switch - get 'em hooked cheap, then jack up the price when they have to see the next episode after the trial runs out. It’s just to get people to try the service. It’s like a free trial or an introductory price for people who want to try it, but don’t want to invest money. I think you’re taking this way too seriously
I would only call it 'the best' because it is the ONLY device that does not have ads.I have HBO for $2.99 for a year thanks to Black Friday and Paramount+ for $4 a month due to the same.

The only problem with that, is that you cannot get custom configs thru these sales. Just the few "retail" configs that Apple has.Yeah, Apple does sales “stealthily” through third parties. I was at the Apple Store a few years ago checking out a new iPhone and I saw someone looking at an iPad. He was all ready to buy it so I checked out the Best Buy and Amazon apps if this particular model was on sale. Yep it was and that was a lost sale for that particular store as he saved $100 thanks to me.
Even without this deals, I believe they would have a lot of churn at $10 with little back catalog.desperately need to get their subscriber numbers up. The problem is people are getting used to 3 month deals and use that to binge a few shows, then leave.
But the truth in Steve’s sentiment there still holds.he's gone for 15 years, the world has changed since ...
The thing is they don’t license movies and series. If they would license them I’m pretty sure a lot of people would make it their preferred streaming service. But how can Apple expect people to just go and subscribe to the service when the oldest show you have there is 4 years old? It just doesn’t work that way. For All Man Kind is a great show but people don’t know it, how could they?I hear ya… Please don’t take it personally if you like Apple TV+
I just think this situation is a little different as they are constantly giving away free access and now doing a sale on the price.
It just feels like they’re having a little bit of trouble on the uptake here.
I could be absolutely 100% wrong.
There have been a couple shows I’ve enjoyed, but I try to divorce my feelings about those versus my objective thoughts on the Service overall.
Apple is making 30% off other streaming subscriptions purchased on iOS. They likely wouldn't make as much licensing that content for Apple TV+.The thing is they don’t license movies and series. From the fine print on https://www.apple.com/apple-tv-plus/: "Offer expires on April 24, 2025".It's a good deal but where do they get that April 24 end date? Thats a Thursday. I was planning to pick it up on the 26 a Saturday. The difference is getting the shows that are out on Fridays. like Murderbot.
I checked out a trial sub some time ago and this special $2.99 price was disqualified because of that. Subbed anyway - we do not sub to cable TV - only internet - and there's enough content on Apple TV to bemuse and occupy us - as hardcore hardcopy newspaper readers.Saw this the other day, $2.99 a month isn't a bad price for someone to see if they like the content or binge watch..
Oh, please, objective thoughts? You either like the content or you don’t, you either think there’s enough content or you don't and that’s not objective, it’s a personal opinion. But the purpose of your original comment remains clear, to imply Apple TV+ is a failure. That’s a personal opinion too by the way.I hear ya… Please don’t take it personally if you like Apple TV+

NOT WORKING for me - still only get the $9.95/m price. No "deal" anywhere to be seen.
Apple TV+ is currently available at a much lower price than usual, but time is running out if you want to take advantage of the offer.

In the U.S., new and qualified returning customers can subscribe to Apple TV+ for just $2.99 per month, for three months. Afterwards, regular pricing of $9.99 per month applies. The offer is available in the Apple TV app, and at tv.apple.com, through April 24. Unfortunately, existing subscribers are not eligible to receive the discount.
The promotion is running in other countries, too. In Canada, for example, the special price is set at $3.99 per month. In the U.K., it is set at £2.99.
With an Apple TV+ subscription, you can watch all of Apple's original shows and films. You can also watch select MLB and MLS games with weekly Friday Night Baseball and Sunday Night Soccer doubleheaders, at no additional cost.
