I've watched every episode of the series (not including the jump-shot Side Quest)...I was never really into the show but had it on during lunch breaks. not my thing (disliked several characters!) but I'd watch it with some smirks. That said, having a "true" ending is a GREAT touch! All too many shows get the axe and that's all. Shantaram was set for more...The Big Door Prize seemed to head into another season...both shows just stopped.

This current season has been unwatchable. Just hackney, obvious, unfunny jokes. It used to be somewhat anchored in realism but now is just a parody of itself.

I'm still enjoying MQ and I'm saddened that it's ending. I think they had one more season left in the tank.

Anyways, I do see a lot of comments here that the opinion is that Seasons 1 and 2 were great and it kinda went south at Season 3. I do agree that S3 and S4 weren't nearly as good as S1 and S2. In my opinion, that's due to C.W. Longbottom having died. He was really the best character on the show. The Backstory episode remains as my favorite episode of the series and it really didn't move the plot along.

In fact, now might be a good time to reflect. Many of the best episodes were bottle episodes and didn't directly move the plot. The CW flashback episodes, the one with Cristine Milliotti, and even this season's Pooty-Shoe episode were really good. Has any other series been structured like that?

This and Ted Lasso were the only things Apple ever did worth watching. If enough of us cancel AppleTV maybe Eddie Clueless can get his cancellation.
I was pretty surprised to find out from that report in the information (I think?) that the services division is bankrolled by the ridiculously highly priced top tiers of iCloud storage (ie for families).

And that everything else makes a loss except for music (which apparently has slim margins).

There’s a puff piece every few years about what an amazing deal maker Eddie cue is. But it doesn’t seem like it if the above is true.

I mean if you got rid of all of the services and cut the top tier by $5-10 (ie removing the loss) I’d be willing to bet that subscriptions would stay pretty stable.

I think the new format of TV (vs 22/23 episode seasons) is best suited for a solid 2-4 seasons, exceptions being the case of perhaps something like foundation, with what is hopefully a well thought out 10 series with a beginning middle and end, or Ted Lasso that has 3 season story then pauses and starts another “story”.

Agreed. The problem is that a lot of series really should be one season and done, but have success so they bring it back. That, or the show has a good idea with no plan to execute an ending. Mini series are probably the best form of TV, IMO.

I had a feeling this show getting very low viewings number because whenever I mention it to my colleagues they would shrug. It felt like I was only one watching it. I did enjoy the first 3 seasons and have not finished the last one. My wife didn't like it but maybe it's just not for her.

Apple TV truly has the worst shows, worst actors pair, worst plots, worst titles, worst posters. The fact that apple is losing money with Apple TV instead of making any explains that a lot.

First few seasons were brilliant, but was obvious this last one that they were running out of ideas. Still enjoyed it though and would have kept going if the show did....

If you haven't watched the series, at least watch the Covid special. It's brilliant.

The best episodes of this show were the one-offs that showcased something in the past (such as the first season in which we see the history of the game company that used to be in the MQ offices, or the last season which showed Ian and Poppy's childhood. Ian's especially was heart-breaking).

Severance, Ted Lasso, Silo and Slow Horses would like to have a word (and those are just off the top of my head). AppleTV doesn't have a lot of content, but what they do have is typically good quality. I'm sure they have a better quality ratio vs total content than any other streamer. Netflix pushes a lot of content, but most of it is utter crap.

Sad to see it go, though perhaps it was time. I didn’t start watching for a while because I’m not into video games. It actually only has a little to do with gaming and is more like any tech company. I just can’t watch another show about doctors or lawyers or police detectives. Joking about servers and bandwidth and dealing with corporate overlords was much more familiar to me. For example, I thought the show about Nazi Prison was really clever.

Being a series, instead of a movie, was interesting because they had time to do backstories which made a lot more sense after you had been introduced to the characters.

For me the best was S2E6 which was the backstory for C. W. Longbottom. This could almost stand on its own if it had just a bit more context. It was so moving to watch him experience all that heartbreak and final redemption.

I really enjoyed the first two seasons of the show before it devolved into dull storylines about nothing more than relationships, be they romantic or platonic. It became clear that the writers were struggling to come up with ideas that had not already been done by Mike Judge’s brilliant Silicon Valley a few years before.

I like this series and enjoyed all four seasons but agree with the consensus that a show should know when it's time to wrap it up. These are my thoughts on the 4th season: I really enjoyed the "Clue" themed episode, the Pootie Shoe episode has a pretty powerful scene between him and his manager when he goes to his manager's house and finally, not giving the ending away, I was surprised by the last scene. Didn't think it would go there.

That hands down was the best episode of the series.

Season 4 lost the formula of keeping McElhenny the center of the show which everyone else orbited. I think that hurt it.
Season 3, however, made Jo much more of a focus. And the testers.

But I think Jo being made such a focus and main character was a mistake. She was funny in doses.

With the testers, I would’ve loved to have seen one be successful in the industry and one not. Give some realism, there, while keeping the comedy. But even if a lost opportunity, to me the big issue was magnifying Jo.

FWIW, I like season 4 a lot more than 3. But it was clearly time to end. Unless you’re going to now show the full on idea-to-Steam game development of the expansion, just end with it being “done.”

Agreed on Jo. She is FANTASTIC in smaller appearances, as the character does best playing off everyone else, not really on their own.

ATV+ shows are really hit or miss. I tried watching this and just couldn't get into it. There was another show that fizzled for me, Ted Lasso, Constellation, Lady in the Lake. Constellation I just couldn't keep up and it was slow. Same with Lady in the Lake. Ted Lasso died after season 2 for me I think. I'm not sure why but maybe it was just a COVID show?

Huh, I always thought this show was quite bad (it had one great episode each in seasons 1 and 2), and since nobody I know liked it either I was surprised to hear it described as popular in this report. However, I then checked Rotten Tomatoes* and it seems really well regarded so, yeah, maybe it is popular.

Well, I’m sorry for everyone who liked it then. At least you’re getting an ending. Would be better if they’d commission one last season of things they decide to cancel though, so they can wrap things up more naturally.

*of course, Rotten Tomatoes would have us believe Rise of Skywalker is universally beloved by viewers, so take everything they say with a bucket of salt.
