It didn't appear to be a show I'd have any interest in if you went by the premise, but it gave off a "Glow" vibe so I thought I'd give it a chance. Even though it is nothing like Glow, it has thus so far been enjoyable. Haven't finished it yet (waited for all episodes to drop) but so far so good.
Agree, Physical has been surprisingly good so far, a lot of character depth with continual development. I also watched GLOW on a whim (admittedly to see Betty Gilpin in another role after binge-watching Nurse Jackie) and was pretty disappointed that it was canceled before it’s final season- we were left hanging…Alison Brie played a somewhat similar character to Rose Byrne’s Sheila.

Still haven't seen anything on Mythic Quest getting a 3rd season.
Yeah I read a story about that. Rob McElhenney is currently working on Its Always Sunny again. Once they wrap, he'll probably get back into Mythic Quest mode. I am sure Apple would want to see some story ideas before green lighting season 3.

I watched the first episode and really hated this show. I decided to give it another chance and watched the second episode and really liked it. I am glad there is a second season.
Same here. I’m not usually a fan of Rose Byrne but she’s doing an amazing job in this role.

Buy an Apple TV box, it will run all the other apps you have on your TV, but it will be faster & better audio & video than what got built in to your Android TV.
Or maybe Apple should just fix their crappy app? Buying another device just for the limited Apple TV plus content is a waste of money and bad for the environment

I started this one on a whim and I've been watching it weekly... love what could happen in next season. I'm fascinated by all these shows set in the 80's they mostly all nail the feel of it... I turned 7 in 1980.

In other words this show wasn't for you. I haven't noticed any over use or unwarranted usage, the script seems to call for it based on the character and situation. Then again I'm not offended by profanity if used properly and I do not think this was not used properly or excessive, if anything it helped mold the character.

Also super happy that the early rumours of AppleTV+ being PG13 are not true.

You can say f*** in PG-13 movies. Can't say it here because MacRumors is effectively G rated.

So yes, Apple TV+ is still just PG-13. Not really a surprise.

Some Trek fans are still angry that a scene in Picard has an admiral saying “the sheer f—ing hubris!” to him. I thought it was a very fitting and plausible line given his arrogant, out-of-touch behavior in that ep. (And I do have plenty of issues with that season. But this isn’t one.)

Yup.

Those were clearly 1) disgruntled Hollywood folks whose show ultimately wasn’t picked up by Apple (or who were fired from a set) mixed with 2) journalists looking for a juicy “Apple can’t do TV!” story. By the latter half of The Morning Show season 1, it’s clear it’s no kids’ show and no soap.

I always viewed that as more of a touchstone example of a terrible show over-all. It was the "terrible" that fans where mad at and that was just the meme rallying cry. I didn't hear anyone actually be upset by the swear word, it was the whole context, the castration of Picard. Not saying there weren't any that didn't like it I just don't think that was the point of using it in meme's and what not, the swear being the least of Picards' problems.

OK, so some fans are upset that their untouchable old white dude messed up hard. I don’t think that makes them look any better.

Like, imagine you’ve retired from your workplace over a disagreement with upper management. (And to clarify “retired”: if you hadn’t, you’d have been fired.) 14 years later, you decide to pursue your original plan again, walk straight to upper management, ignore the warning sign that the front desk person has no idea who you are and say, “I still think I’m right — therefore, you should give me resources X, Y, and Z”. You think that conversation with a boss goes any other way than “first of all, no, and second, who the hell do you think you are”?

Castration? No. This is a perfectly plausible scenario. He’s lost his way and is trying to get his mojo back.

That's fine, how you interpret the show is just as fair as anyone else. I have no horse in this race, Star Trek has always just been a show to me a form of entertainment I've never been a "fan" I'm just interpreting what I've seen said by Star Trek fans. I'll say this though. modern day Star Trek creators do not understand the property they have. It no longer feels like Star Trek just another generic sci-fi show and fundamentally that is what Star Trek fans are upset about.

I think the current era of Trek shows has problems; I just think Picard's character arc in PIC season 1 is actually one of its strong points.

(Overall, I'd rather PIC S1 maybe a 6 out of 10, mostly because its final three episodes are a mess. DIS S1-3? A 4 out of 10. Some stuff like Saru's character is interesting, but much of it is a mess. Haven't watched enough LD to judge it, but am told it's better.)

Watched it, enjoyed every scene that didn't have her husband in it, but: How is this a comedy?
It isn't a laugh track enabled situation comedy... it is more of a dramadey. I guess an example would be like Modern Family. I haven't laughed out loud but have internally chuckled, they just chose to be more light drama than comedy, which I am happy about personally.

This show is surprisingly great. I watched it on a whim, like many others here, and I can't turn it off. I'm just about to finish the season finale, and I'm so glad there's a second season.

I was hoping someone would provide a little commentary on the political portrayal in the show? In the 80's was San Diego mostly voting republican, and it was some sort of hurdle to get *the youth* to vote democrat? Also, I am really glad that they didn't portray the show's republicans as evil villains like most shows would these days. it's refreshing to see a little humanity for both sides for a change.
