Interesting that the iPod touch is continuing on with its legacy, as it seems almost nonexistent today in a lot of ways. Nonetheless, these new ‘leaks’ are definitely a strong indicator for what we’re going to see probably April with the keynote coming and beyond.

Aside from the new iPhone/Apple Watch/Apple TV, I really want to see the ‘Air tags’ launch sometime this year, hopefully they make their debut by fall, but I don’t suspect they will be here by the April keynote.

If they made an Apple TV you have to navigate with a mouse pointer I would drive to Cupertino and throw it through Tim Cook's office window.
That C9 mouse pointer magic remote thing needs to be killed. With fire. It’s awful. Waving my arms around trying to get the damned pointer to go where i am pointing is really frustrating. And just picking up the remote to move it out of the way, the pointer shows up over whatever we are watching - the worst.

I’ve hidden the remote and use a universal remote, but the pointer still rears its ugly head from time to time. I would love it if the C9 had a “never show me any dialog box for any reason, just shut up and display whatever you are receiving on HDMI1” toggle.

Really? I like it. I'm able to navigate through menus much faster. I had to use it a ton when I was tweaking everything in the settings menu to get the TV just how I wanted it (I just bought it before the Super Bowl since my team was playing, my old TV was from 2009 and I got a decent deal on it). I never wildly flail my arms or anything. I just use a subtle wrist motion to move it across the display, and if it gets to be a little off, I just shove it into the side to reset the position.

There is probably a better solution, but for now I'd like to try it. As it stands now, I think it's much better than the highly inaccurate touch pad the current remote uses. At least the virtual mouse thing is precise. The Apple TV remote flies past things all the time, sometimes multiple times per item.

I find the virtual mouse incredibly IMprecise. It’s far easier just to hit the arrows to move from entry to entry than to try and point it what I want (not to mention uncomfortable to have to lift my arm at weird angles, etc.)

Maybe the geometry just works better in your setup than mine, but I couldn‘t be happier that I don’t have to use that thing on a daily basis thanks to a universal remote we use.

This is my first “smart TV” and the remote is only one of the annoyances - the modal dialog boxes that pop up and demand me to make a selection (update your firmware? Hey, now it’s time to update the magic remote’s firmware - enjoy not being able to use it for awhile! Hey, even though you have one HDMI cable from your receiver connected to me, it looks like you used to be using an Apple TV but now you’re using a Nintendo switch - shall i rename the port? Hey, I see you’re back to the Apple TV - shall I rename the port again?), the superimposed graphics that tell me I’m still using HDMI1, just like last time and every other time I’ve turned it on, the “oops, you forgot to turn off soap opera mode when using this type of video signal, better go through 5 levels of menus to turn it off again.” ARgh. Wish these companies just made TVs that were TVs.

The picture, however, is remarkable.

This could be part of a site refresh rather than a March event itself. I think unless they have something too say, a site refresh would be better.

Overpriced for what you really get in my opinion my Sony wireless put these to shame

A new iPod touch has my attention

I suppose you are being sarcastic? How would you be able to compare your current Sony wireless headphones with a currently not existing pair of Apple headphones?

He meant it wasn't there in the first post version - they edit as stuff comes in. It wasn't in the first version I saw.

Perhaps - but even if the link was edited in afterwards, the linked article and accompanying screenshot of the price predates this one by over an hour. :)

Apple TV Pro. £999 and let’s you watch live TV like only the pros can do.

And it is now so thin it comes without Ethernet.

You joke, but Xiaomi recently launched a "Pro" line of TV sets here in China...

My Samsung‘s apps and UI were eventually never able to be updated again. But I get what you mean, and that’s probably why Apple is making the Apple TV software and airplay available to TV vendors
Hmmmm....
I think you are using “Apple TV” in place of “Apple TV+”.

Apple allows TV vendors to create a “channel” or app that plays/streams Apple TV+ content, just like any other streaming app (Netflix, Prime, Disney+, et al).

That is a far, far, far cry from the vendors being able to use the Apple TV UI, or any of its software whatsoever.... for example, when Apple updates live streaming events to view on an actual Apple TV, they’re not going to show up on my Apple TV+ Roku App, I cant get the ATV wallpapers/screensavers via the app, I can’t search the App Store via my Roku app, etc.

The Apple TV app on my Samsung TV looks pretty much like it does on my iPad and Apple TV. Not all the capabilities, but the basic ones.

I wish I had seen this before buying a 4k 64gb for $160 last night. Bonus, after getting it running I was notified I would receive one free year of Apple TV+. At $5/month that brings my cost down to $100 for a year. I'm sure these will have the same offer however.

If they are anything like the previous versions I still think the Sony's will trample them.

I haven’t had to deal with that yet since I updated the firmware upon setting it up and haven’t owned it long. Also haven’t experienced the HDMI issue since I just ran separate cables through the wall for my Apple TV 4K, Switch, SNES Classic and Xbox One X. I had issues with my old HDMI switch flickering so I wanted to just get dedicated cables and not mess with it since I don’t use a Blu-Ray player any more and don’t mind switching between the SNES and NES cables, which is infrequent because I like the SNES more. Might get a simple switch just for those. But the main reason I did it is because I can use HomeKit to switch inputs.

Yes, the picture quality is great, even with factory calibration. Have you calibrated yours? Find any good guides on it? I need to do that at some point. This is the first nice TV I’ve owned. Not sure what is best. I have a Spyder 5 colorimeter I use on my Macs and have heard there is some open source software to use it for TVs but I haven’t researched all the options yet.
