Yeah, I was expecting a new Apple TV, and the iPhone SE2 with the announcement. Needs me a new Apple TV!

They could release it silently (or press release) with the release of tvOS 13.4.
We have had a GM for iOS and watchOS but the macOS and tvOS releases last weeks were just classed as betas. I wonder if they have a final build up their sleeves of macOS and tvOS with new products such as the rumoured new iMac and a new Apple TV.

With the release of new updated iPad Pro models with the A12Z cpu do people speculating on the new Apple TV expect we will also get the A12Z? It would certainly be an upgrade from the A10X, right?

Yes. More cores, more powerful cores, and they can be used altogether. Huge upgrade.

More speculation but if true then the next Apple TV won't be released until September/October

"We have now heard from a trusted source that this new Apple TV may be equipped with the new A14 chip, the same as the upcoming iPhone 12. The A14 chip will focus on providing more graphics performance and up to 6GB of RAM, our source told us".

Is this overkill for the Apple TV? They must have some big plans for the product if they're putting an A14 inside it. Also this would likely increase the cost of the device considerably.

I do not think that an A14 (or even a A14X) would be overkill for a new Apple TV. I like Oceanhorn 2 on Apple Arcade, and I would like to play it on my 4K 55" Screen without slowdowns/things popping up out of nowhere, which was not possible on my Apple TV 4K.

If we get an A14 powered new Apple TV I hope the A14 is more powerful than the A12X & A12Z.

I'm in the A14X camp. The killer feature will be extending Apple Arcade into the living room and Apple will want comparable gaming performance as the iPhone/iPad in a device pushing 8million pixels at 10-bit color. Even the A12X will struggle with that. Even better if the A14 is anyway comparable (and for CPU performance it might be!) to the next generation consoles also due to release 2020/2021. I'm not a gamer, never owned a console since the Atari 2600, but I'm excited to see what Apple can do if they go this route.

They can't compete against the Roku and Fire sticks for streaming anymore, but with custom silicon, already paid for iPhone/iPad, they can potential make a big splash against Sony/MS/Nintendo. IF they have the quality games.

If the ATV 6 is going to use the new A14 chip that the iPhone 12 will use, we wont see a new ATV until after the iPhone 12 is released. The iPhone is the pride and joy of Apple, and the first device to get these new chips is the iPhone. Since the iPhone 12 will come out in September, or possibly later due to Covid 19, expect the new ATV to follow a few months later. So it could be out by end of year, or in 2021. So still a long wait.

The Firestick 4k is a great device but you can't watch the iTunes extras using the TV app. They are only available on a physical Apple TV box.
I don't have iTunes movies nor plan to buy. It's mostly for netflix/prime/appletv+ and facebook videos.

I have no idea. I wasn't too keen on buying it but that's when i was hoping for a new Apple TV 4K somewhere this quarter. I will start reading about it.

So a new A14 with 128gb could be dubbed an AppleTV 4K Max.
Maybe they'll keep the existing 4K model at a lower price point.
