Most likely because there's someone else taking a picture at the same time from that angle. The photographer taking this picture should have re-taken it instead of publishing. It's not like he/she needed to develop film to discover it wasn't a good shot.
No, of course not. The "open hand arms around the girl" look is absolutely terrible. It's like a ballroom dancer with his fingers open like he's palming a basketball; an awful awful look.
But in this day and age, more and more of us fellas are doing it, ESPECIALLY when having pictures taken with a lady. Seriously; one accusation, true or false, can END A MAN'S CAREER.
Example: Taylor Swift and that radio guy. There's no way to know for sure WHAT really happened, but she says she was groped, and the one guy accused the other, possibly as a joke, but then it backfired and the other lost his job. And the joke-player just kept his mouth shut.
So it's hands-open in pictures!
I agree. Photographers today have all the tools, including the ability to preview pics on the screen. And they publish some really awful stuff, with antennas sticking out of people's heads, and light poles showing up behind people's outspread legs, and worse; much much worse.

It would be a lot better to just drop the arms around other people, particularly if you aren't comfortable doing so with that specific person. It's like a weird in between in terms with social conventions when it's like this.

And I’m still yet to meet a single person who subscribes to/watches ATV+.
I think people underestimated Apple TV+, it’s off to a good start. I wish it had a backlog of other content though.
I’ve yet to meet someone who subscribes to Paramount+ but there it is.
They're still missing a must-see show. Need start thinking outside the box.
I don’t know, maybe I don’t have a sense of humor but I just don’t get Ted Lasso. I watched an entire season and didn’t laugh once.

apple is a bit player in this space until they buy some content (a studio, some cable channels, a network, etc.)
lol, the point of this story is that they have multiple big name shows.
You can make jokes but to be honest I've only seen just a small number of anything worth watching on Disney+ outside of what appeals to kids and Netflix is over-bloated with old crap with a small few of decent originals and Amazon Prime Video is just a bunch of old rehashed shows.It's one of the few streaming services that you can scan all their content in a few minutes.
And you happen to know so many people which covers the majority of Apple's AppleTV+ customer base? So bizarre how people say they don't know a single person using select Apple products as if the people they know speak for the majority. 🙄
