Now wait a minute, I thought Lightning was a superior connector and moving everything to USB-C is stifling innovation?

I am happy but also like "why did it take this long!!!"
You know why.

1. Lightning predates USB-C by 1.5yrs.
2. all hardware by Apple using it gets 3rd party lucrative deals.
2ii. since the remote doesn't really qualify, why involve R&D engineers to implement USB-C until they absolutely MUST?
Have them work on other tasks that'll generate $$ not looks work focused time = or loss of dollars per hour.

Simple. ;)

Makes no adding air pods pro to USB C more odd to be honest.
I'd rather Apple figure out :

Using USB-C 3.1/3.2, TB3, TB4 cables and using 15/20/30/40/60/100/150W adapters with AirPods Pro 2+ cases in the future so that the cases' battery doesn't a) Galaxy Note 9/10 explode or rapidly degrade battery capacity and effectiveness.

Don't rush Apple else you'll be next complaining how you need to replace the case or the APPs in a year due to poor battery.

This would've been the "one more thing" if they had an in-person presentation.

It's called USB Power Delivery 2.0/3.x.
Apple-hardware's been using it for a while now, even via Lightning, I think they got the hang of it.

Do I have this right? They switch from Lightning to USB-C while also making the choice to omit a charger for the remote? In theory that means only folks with an iPad Air, iPad Pro, MacBook (some types) or newer Android device can charge their new Apple Remote without a separate purchase?

I wish you were still a company here for your customers and not … well … whatever you’re existing for now.

Still no location tracking? Ugh.
Yes location tracking. For a device that stays in a stationary room at all times. Don’t want to leave ur Apple TV remote at the office or the mall all those times u take the Apple Remote there for absolutely no reason.

It may be stupid, but this made me order the new Apple TV 😂

(Upgrading from 4k 1st Gen)

At last the transition is begun. Phasing out Lightning port, one step at a time.

The previous Apple TV 4K's didn't include a charger. They included a usb-c to lightning cable only. You only have to charge this remote a few times a year so I doubt most people are buying dedicated chargers for it.

Apple doesn’t use Power Delivery on Lightning it’s solely for USB-C connection. Not seeing anything of Lightning in this site https://www.usb.org/usb-charger-pd

Maybe you meant with the Pro and latest Air/iPad 10” models and MBPs?

Even so, only the MBPs from 2016 onward and MBA 2022 implement Power Delivery 1-3

Take it from the horse's mouth:
You can fast charge your iPhone 8 and later up to 50 percent battery in around 30 minutes.1

Fast charging works when you use an Apple USB-C to Lightning cable and one of these adapters:

Apple 18W, 20W,2 29W, 30W, 61W, 87W, or 96W USB-C Power Adapter
A comparable third-party USB-C power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD)

USB-A won’t go above 5 volts (officially). Lightning supports 9 volt charging when using a C to lightning cable. Photo is my 12 mini charging.

My 2015 MacBook 12” supported USB-PD. That’s how it charged.
By the 12 mini only takes 12W via MagSafe is it higher than this USB-C to Lightning? That’s for the capture much appreciated.

So the question is why are iPhones still so slow to change the battery? Battery health doesn’t seem to come into the conversation with android phones yet the capacity on the gaming android phones seems to be a lot more than the standard or Max iPhones; unless again I’m setting myself up to be mistaken?!
