Well maybe a computer company should only go so far.... I mean lots of these new services came at the price of attention of other product lines such as the Mac!

We have 1 Gb fiber and no issues streaming on other providers, but AppleTV+ periodically buffers multiple times on an Apple TV 4K, even after restarting. I was wondering if the mention of infrastructure is related to this, but perhaps I am the only one?
Same. Glad to know it’s not just me. An hour episode on Apple TV+ will sometimes freeze and buffer up to 4-5 times for me.

I expected to see a big marketing push by Apple immediately after winning the best picture, but I haven’t seen one ad for Coda and Apple TV+. That’s a HUGE error on Apple’s part. It always amazes me how the biggest company on the planet can’t get basic things right sometimes. They must just throw money at things and hope everything comes out okay rather than thinking anything through.

Everyone’s mileage varies. I’ve had no buffering issues with any content I’ve watched on Apple TV+. Same holds true for watching content from Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Paramount+. Everyone’s mileage varies.

A former Apple member of staff said that there is burnout at Apple TV+, partly due to a number of delayed shows moving forward at the same time. "There's going to be a breaking point. People are stretched thin and working too hard," they added.

Welp! I just imagined the horror of missing Finnish subtitles in one episode of Ted Lasso and now I don't know if I can sleep tonight

Apple is doomed

I have Apple Music and have been subscribed to TV+ in the past. I need to update iCloud to 2TB and considered getting Apple One Premiere. However, TV+ didn’t impress me, and I probably won’t use Arcade, Fitness and News. So it got me wondering: is Apple’s foray into services a bit a of a failure aside from Apple Music? TV+ by all accounts has done less than stellar subscriber numbers. I can’t imagine Fitness+ and Arcade do all that well, but I could be wrong.

There is no brand that meets all my needs (or wants). Not even close. For mobile devices I choose Apple as the lesser evil, as Android+Google is basically the only other option.

But isn't that true with life in general? Just pick whichever brand/service/etc gives you the best experience/value and makes you happy.

I want to drive a BMW 7 series or a used Bugatti Veyron, but reality forces me to drive a Toyota. A compromise I can live with, without complaint.

It's kinda weird that Apple Arcade is the opposite of this strategy... and News+... and they don't produce their own music for Apple Music.

It's pretty hard for a media platform to exist without a plethora of content and brands. Apple TV+ just seems neither broad enough or clear enough of what its content is supposed to be.

Should have purchased Netflix when they had the chance. That will be the #1 oversight of Tim Cook. Apple TV+ is going nowhere (much like Apple Music as compared to Spotify), and absolutely nobody in the game is going to catch Disney’s numbers. So there’s that.

Sounds pretty much exactly how I imagine the entire company is run these days. Of course I may be wrong but that is the feeling I get of Apple in 2022.

having previously worked at an agency (the WORST) I can totally picture it.

Executive:

5 PM, Friday: "oh we need marketing material by Monday 9 am. Just make it "sexy" and popp"

8 AM, Sunday: "hmmm it is not EXACTLY what we were thinking. Can you maybe like ... change EVERYTHING. Thank you :) "

cries in "but it will take 3 days at the printer"
I mean, I worked at a company that designed home products, has been in the industry since the 50s, grew its market cap 30% in the past 2 years and this literally happened every design season.
2 months to design and refine - exec meeting leads to complete overhaul in 3 days - inventory teams wonder why christmas products aren't shipping on time for holiday season, rinse, repeat.
