I don’t know what the critics say but Apple got me watching tv regularly again and I haven’t followed a tv program since Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the first season of Jericho. I’m watching The Morning Show. I have a special fondness for the character of Chip. He looks like he’s just about at the end of his sanity with his job of herding cats at this show. I hope the actor who plays him, Mark Duplass, gets some recognition, too.

My only annoyance with this show is the heavy handed product placement. It’s like the most expensive extended Apple commercial ever.

I’m also watching The Baby Yoda Show, aka The Mandalorian, on Disney, so credit to Disney for that.

Wasnt this getting horrible reviews? Maybe Apple paid off someone on the Golden Globe committee.
Many reviewers actually changed their scores as they watched through the series. Also, this show is amazing and deserves all the awards it is up for. Try watching it before jumping to conclusions.

I LOVE CHIP TOO! Chip is legit my Baby Yoda on TMS. I've always been a fan of Duplass, he plays low key creepy every-man so well (see Creep).

Did not understand the hate this show got. It’s a really solid drama and one of the better Apple TV offerings (along with ‘Servant’ which is gloriously bonkers).

I might try to watch Apple's TV+. I haven't watched television in almost thirty years. Couldn't stand the dramatized news, couldn't stand the commercials. Every time I tried to watch TV it became an effort to concentrate on the subject matter. It was as if a person with severe attention deficit disorder did the programming.

I think a lot of the initial bad reviews were because of the sympathetic view of the Steve Carrel character early on (which is clearly changing throughout the show), and the nuanced take on the #metoo movement. For another example where this occurred, see Chappelle's latest special. Panned by critics, but 99% audience rating on RT.

Yesssss! Chip fans unite! I knew everyone was going to be drawn to Cory (Billy Crudup) because he has that whole cool detached enigmatic Satan in a suit thing going on and many people are drawn to that.

But Chip had me and my husband from day one. He is just the Everyman kind of coasting along, being appreciated when needed, but largely taken for granted most of the time. The job is no doubt stressful already, trying to keep all the flashy dysfunctional stars functioning in front of the camera.

And now the 💩 has hit the fan and he’s just trying to be the normal one in the most abnormal environment ever. It’s amazing to watch Mark Duplass bring different sides of the character out with different characters. Watching him with Cory, Chip is this twitching ball of barely contained desperation bouncing off the wall that is Cory. I can’t wait to see what happens as more and more the desperation causes him to lean into the “no more Mr, Nice guy” path he’s been on. I’m still 3 episodes behind so I’m sure I’ve got more treats ahead.

I also really appreciate that every cast member has been given their moment to shine. It’s a large cast that includes heavy hitting guests, so that’s not an easy thing to pull off gracefully. And they’re bringing in guest actors I was not expecting to see and had not seen in a while.

Spot on. Critics tend to hate when white straight men are portrayed sympathetically and with some measure of subtlety. I personally was able to get into the show due to the nuanced take on it, and was able to accept the later turn. Very refreshing compared to other TV.

Martin Short has been amazing! I couldn't believe my eyes when he turned up - and his role is hilarious.

This will help secure future A-list talent for sure. Stars like being called “Golden Globe Nominated Best.”

Yes. That’s right. Because there are stars in it. That’s precisely what the HFPA looks for. Incisive comment. Well done.
Well it should be about more than just a show having big names in it. Season 2 of big little lies was garbage yet it still got a number of nominations. Also it seems like if you‘re not ABC, NBC or CBS you’re more likely to get nominated. I’ll be curious to see what Emmy nominations are.

I didn't watch any of Apple's show and even unsubsribed from free AppleTV plus (I am entitled because I just bought Macbook Pro 2019). however, the show got nominated, it means it got something we may missed based on the preview or the pilot. I have no doubts, that like in every market Apple does enter, they do have some sort of the long term plan. Sometimes they miss, but mostly they do well. So I am glad for them!

I think everyone wanted this character to be exactly like Matt Lauer because Matt Lauer was said to be the inspiration for the Mitch character. But thank goodness they gave Mitch a more nuanced presentation than Matt Lauer’s PR is able to do for him. I would not want to sit through an hour of story about Matt Lauer. But I am interested in Mitch. If I wanted real life I would watch the news.

The writers are smart to earn their pay and do something a bit more entertaining and insightful with the themes they’re examining than just giving us a blow by blow recreation of real life news.

This is the sort of tv I’ve been waiting over a decade for. No, I can’t watch it with my kids. But I appreciate they’re not rubbing my nose in “edgy” content just for the sake of being edgy. It’s been well balanced in most respects, except for product placement and I suppose I can learn to overlook that since it happens in movies now as well.

Pretty much. I knew before I watched one episode it would get award nominations. Billy Crudup is probably the best cast member of the show and he didn’t get nominated.
Billy's character is my favorite character on the show. I had high hopes for ATV+ in general but not particularly for The Morning Show as I didn't really expect to find it interesting based on the previews. However, TMS has quickly became my favorite show on the service. Excellent writing and acting!

I like The Morning Show, started a little slow, a bit heavy handed but after ep.3 it kicked into gear and has gotten very good. But, it's all about SERVANT...it's mesmerizing IMO everything about it is great!!

Subject wise i wasn’t interested about this show, but the production quality is very high just like with all the shows so it got me in and it’s getting better and better and just like others i’m surprisingly enjoying the show a lot.

must be hard days for all those, ”Apple doesn’t know what they are doing and they shouldn’t have open this service” people.

Still i think servant for me is best this service offers for now, that’s really good series and can’t wait new episodes
