To me, watching streaming TV is one of the most boring pastimes ever. Apple TV has a reputation for having high quality content (compared to Netflix, Prime, Hulu, etc), but even those shows can't hold my attention for more than a few minutes. They're full of padding and questionable writing and just feel watered down and not compelling.

As a result, I cancelled all these streaming services several years ago and haven't missed them (occasionally watch movies on Tubi or use my friend's Hulu login). So it's surreal to see them keep raising prices for content that I didn't find worthwhile at half the price. In fact, I think the constant price increases are a reflection that the audience for these services is barely growing, so raising prices is the only way to increase revenue.

Makes sense, as more of us are only subscribing for a month or two a year to watch favorites and new stuff.
Why do you think the dosage is 1 episode per week? That way they hope you will stick around for 2 months and m maybe 4 if you have another show you like which obviously does not air at the same time.

I agree. I can’t remember how many times I’ve watched the live adaption of Snow White over and over, and thought; “yes my brain cells are getting quite the feed over something like severance, Pluribus, Ted Lasso.” My money is well spent on this corporate diamond that is Disney. Wohoo. 💀

I personally don’t get the point. I’d rather pay Apple to see Emmy award winning shows than the same ol’ same ol’ from Disney.

Oh absolutely, same with HBO Sunday night shows, but those of us on budgets have to delay until we can stream all of a season in one month.

F1 / MLS / MLB licenses can’t be cheap.
This is true. But, you know know what? I’ve been an F1 fan since the 1960s and the product doesn’t seem to be worth paying for anymore. At least to me anyway. I can live without the Friday night MLB games (I can get Phillies games elsewhere) and I never watch MLS.

Apparently that was a year ago. Time is flying.

This is what I was referring to

This was an increase in the price of Apple Music. Now Apple TV is following suit.

I have the Premier Family Plan. That is not affected by this increase, but I can imagine Apple is going to lose subscribers over this increase.

Never subbed on this (don't see the point why), I only use 2 months trials that they offer each year when you top-up account with Apple Gift card.

Man, AppleTV has some banger shows now. But this is ridiculous. I will say quality wise they look the best out of any app. All these streaming sites are trying to counteract people unsubscribing and don't realize if you kept it $9.99 a month or under everyone would just stay.
