Apple TV Streaming Service Receives Price Increase

I love some of their content, so I subscribe 1 or 2 months a year, often via free offers (e.g. when redeeming a gift card). That's enough to catch up. But, boy, do I get annoyed that they push an ad, sorry "trailer", on me every time I want to watch something. If they want to charge me premium pricing, it's gotta feel premium.

I'm gonna review my One Family subscription... Netflix (included in the satellite TV subscription) and Prime Video include more content than I could watch in several lifetimes (not forgetting the fact that I regularly fall asleep after 20-30 minutes).

Yep I think I may swap from premiere down to family.

Pure price gouging as it has absolute nothing to do with component costs, yet Apple and others seem to use it a an excuse to increase ALL costs across the board.

It may have nothing to do with "component" costs but there are plenty of other costs that can impact a streaming service's price including more or higher content/sports licensing rights and fees, production costs, content delivery infrastructure costs, and the usual labor, marketing, etc. costs.

Everything keeps heading up in price. Buy or don’t, but it’s good to remember that streaming video is not necessary for life.

I still with I could mix and match what I want, but not what they offer as far as combos. I'd like Apple Music, News, iCloud+, and Arcade. Nothing else.

Nothing beats a home server that I never have to pay monthly for.

Other than electricity costs and, assuming you acquire what's on it legally, the cost of buying and ripping those movies and shows. That can be less expensive than streaming subscriptions, but not all shows on the various services can be purchased on physical media and ripped from that.

Man, AppleTV has some banger shows now. But this is ridiculous. I will say quality wise they look the best out of any app. All these streaming sites are trying to counteract people unsubscribing and don't realize if you kept it $9.99 a month or under everyone would just stay.

I’m curious what shows are bangers? Out of the loop and wouldn’t mind trying to check some of them out

You know what would keep people from cancelling their streaming services? How about if you actually decreased their price over time for being a loyal subscriber. If you cancel, then you start over at the new price. Obviously, I am not a shareholder 🙂

I have been thinking of how to get a NAS setup and then just buy DVD's and Bluerays and store and stream them myself. Need to evaluate my Apple One sub.

I agree. Should evaluate your value to price ratio. And when it falls below a certain threshold, dont purchase the product.

Companies should always wonder why "illegal" activity is on the increase, and especially why some seem to openly justify or encourage it.

Discounted annual subscriptions are generally how streaming services "reward" loyal subscribers. For example, the TV+ monthly subscription price is $14.99 but the annual subscription price is $119 which comes out to around $9.92/month. A "savings" of around 34%.
