Apple TV+ Subscribers Can Now Bundle CBS and Showtime for Discounted $9.99 Per Month

Showtime is already included in the $4.99 Spotify student membership which also comes with free Hulu with ads. CBSViacom is adding Viacom content to CBS All Access like MTV and BET so their library is growing larger.
I wouldn’t be so sure about app sign in coming. CBS offers access because there is a lot of live content that’s not available on the Apple TV channel. Showtime doesn’t have that issue. All of their content is on the Apple TV channel.

You get access to the CBS app and that is where you’ll get the soccer coverage. It’s not available in the TV app.
This sounds like a good deal. Just not for me. Nothing on CBS AA or Showtime that I want to watch that's worth $10 a month.
I already had Showtime for $10.99.
I went to Settings > User > Subscriptions and cancelled it.
Then I when to Channels in the TV app and chose to sign up for the 1 week trial of Showtime. The resulting confirmation screen said it will be a trial for CBS AND Showtime and would renew at $9.99/mo.
So far so good.
But how do I sign into CBS? I downloaded the app but a Restore Purchase login fails. And creating an account wants to charge me another $9.99.
When I go back to the User > Subscriptions page in Settings shows the Showtime + CBS trail but says it will renew at $20.98 not $9.99?!

Ok I’m an idiot. It looks like you have to access the content via the TV App maybe? Not the CBS App? But I’m still seeing things I can’t want / have to purchase episodes etc. I dunno. I give up. Doesn’t matter I guess as Showtime is a buck cheaper now and I had always subscribed to that. Still. Confusing.

In the TV app, scroll down to the "Channels" row and select the CBS button. This will take you to a section that only shows the content included with the CBS AA subscription.
The TV app aggregates many different content sources (channel subscriptions, other video apps, and purchased iTunes content). On the front page you may see content from all of these sources, whether you have subscribed/purchased their content or not. There is currently no way to limit the front page to content that you actually have access to without further purchases.

No surprise here, CBS for years has been trying to go their own way with streaming services only to fail. First they bought TV.com rather than join the Hulu joint venture, and it bombed. No it appears they have to cling to other services to keep All Access afloat. The Tiffany network thinks too highly of it’s library.

Anyone else try signing up just now and it only giving you one of the two? For example I just tapped the advertisement about the bundle. Then I hit subscribe but it only gave me cbs free trial (even on the receipt it just says cbs, no bundle). Maybe just a glitch?
Yeah none of the channels have enough content that’s up my alley enough to subscribe.
I tried to sign up through Channels and it billed me separately totaling $20.98. I get Apple TV+ through family member that got for free from purchasing an iPhone. Just a word of caution. Working on getting refund. Apple has some work to do on the sign up process.
Yeah, I saw that as well. I'm thinking it's a mistake. The confirmation email I received said "Renews at $9.99/mo".

So if I use my wife's Apple ID when we buy the next Apple device we can get another year?
