Big whup. I don't see THAT much of a difference between the two bots. The detail should be a big jump, not just a slight one.

Since Apple seems to be toning down colors, this new icon fits that thinking. Except for the eye, the icon is black-and-white with shades of gray, little to no shadow, and the reflection on the top of the icon is similar to the reflections on the iOS icons. I will not be surprised if Pages, Keynote, and Numbers get updated icons.

retina 15" MBP with ivy bridge, discreet GPU, thinner form, bigger battery and no optical drive, please Apple :) My wallet is ready!

Yeah I think that might be coming, though I'm not sure it's really necessary. I would much rather have the higher resolution in screen real estate than in making things sharper.

The problem though is apple do not have the technology to make things bigger (as in bigger font) thus they have to sacrifice screen real estate for making them bigger and sharper. It's disappointing to see them again relying on the engineering prowess of another party (the screen engineers) in order to bypass and not take an engineering step themselves (in resolution independence). Anyway they are would be tv manufacturers right now, computer technology takes the backsit, it's what we've come to expect from them.
In any case you will have the option to have the screen real estate of the resolution in non hidpi mode but the size of the font will be close to unreadable for most.
