Not expecting to see changes to action button for 16 Pro. Capture button may be of some use. Looking forward to seeing all the iPhone 16 rumours!!

The most exciting announcement yet!!!!!!

I've been holding out for the action button redesign! I can't be the only one - can i?!
Your excited about a button?? 😂😂😂
On an all screen device??? 😂😂
Give me:
1. Touchscreen that works with wet hands.
2. 120hz VRR 4k DUAL Layer OLED display
3. Solid State BATTERY ( they are smaller & hold longer charge)
We could get 24 hour + battery life.
4. Behind display speakers 🔊 (due to space saved from solid state battery)
5. Resigned with a phone that Flips with no creases ( like Galaxy Flip)
6. Large Apple Logo with OLED display for when phone is folded.
7. Fast Charging
8. Behind display Face ID 3.0 & cameras
9. Zero Bezels

MY RESPONSES BELOW!

1. Touchscreen that works with wet hands. - that would be great. what about slimy hands?
2. 120hz VRR 4k DUAL Layer OLED display. - i prefer 240 hz
3. Solid State BATTERY ( they are smaller & hold longer charge) - nuclear battery is better.
We could get 24 hour + battery life.
4. Behind display speakers 🔊 (due to space saved from solid state battery). -why not in front?
5. Resigned with a phone that Flips with no creases ( like Galaxy Flip) -why flip when you can unfold?
6. Large Apple Logo with OLED display for when phone is folded. -glowing apple logo.
7. Fast Charging -FASTER charging
8. Behind display Face ID 3.0 & cameras. - FaceID 4.0 and 4 cameras
9. Zero Bezels. -zero bezels with screens on the sides. so every ANGLE IS A SCREEN!!!!

Apple is only focusing in buttons :(, I wish my iphone 12 pro max battery would last, i guess i will be forced to update.

But the iphone is now officially boring, we need a design change i am pretty much buying another phone 12 pro max with tweaks.

Apple is sinking and i am trapped in its ecosystem.
Change the battery. It’s not a big deal.

So much care and thought into a button, and we haven't really gotten much new innovation in a while. They tout better cameras and faster processors, but we need a WOW moment cause this **** is stale.
Phones are mature products now. Would you call the MacBook Air stale for just updating the stats and chamfering a few more edges every couple of years?

I was (and I am) pretty excited when I bought the iPhone 15 Pro, the changes were and are noticeable (new frame, processor, port etc.), but I agree, and I think there won’t be the same “excitement” for a new iPhone version in at least a couple of years…
I skiped the Pro because it was boring, I tried one in a shop, could I tell the difference between CPU's well nope. They are so fast for a phone it does not even matter, I didn't like the colours even though it would be in a case and the finish felt rough compared to my old iPhone 14 Pro 1TB. I doubt I'll upgrade this year, after seeing the features the Pixel has that are useful like proper call screening (yes some of us do use a phone as a phone) and its ability to put someone on hold talk to them and let me know who they are or block them.

I looked at my iPhone and thought yep I can get that in an app with a subscription model that I detest, but this is the kind of thing that should be baked in, not a journal. Also get rid of the glass back use something else, try real better battery life thats not hinged on the CPU a redesigned camera set up so its not that ugly and hard to clean between the gaps three lens in a triangle look, just try something new without worrying about a button, I seriously don't care about a buttons shape, or its haptic feedback when haptics uses battery life. Buying a phone just for USB C when it still had USB 2 transfer speeds was a insult to many too. Apple just do something useful and different with that rectangle. Where's the true innovation, I mean how long till we get rid of the 'dynamic island which has so few truly useful features its almost useless as a design language. <sigh>

For all the effort Apple puts into the ability for the phone to use the camera I would assume that they would put some effort into designing a dedicated button to use the camera in a placement that's more convenient.

The marketing machine of Apple works again. Clickbait. We are all looking to something -very- boring news. Sorry Apple, you have to work better than e few buttons.

exactly. I can never take a photo with one hand using the volume button, it's in the wrong side

Place the action button on the Right Lower side. Then it is much more funtional as a camera button. I won’t worry about the argument that it will trigger the camera while using other apps as my Sony Xperia 1V has a dedicated shutter button there

I just don't get this argument.

a) Sweeping left on your lockscreen is literally a millisecond of work.

b) taking a picture with volume down or on screen button is as fast as any dedicated "action button"

you can tell that the smartphone industry has plateaued for good if the new hardware features we get to discuss is stuff like the size of button

Mostly it’s been about the cameras. Having the best cameras is apparently one of the primary reasons for choosing the Pro and Pro Max, so it actually makes sense to add buttons that can assist with taking photos and videos. Standalone cameras have many dedicated and programmable buttons.

If iPhones continue to get bigger and heavier with bigger cameras, it will eventually make sense to just buy a camera.

Hopefully they bring back the dark purple option for the 16 Pro or else I’m sticking with my 14 Pro another year.

Getting harder and harder to get excited about any updates for years to be honest.
Current rumors suggest:
better cameras with 48MP UW lens
New action button
Better efficiency though N3E process for A18 Pro
Non pro models get new gen SoC as with Pro models
And iOS 18 to intoruce new Siri with LLM GPT

Those are in definition to be worth upgrades.

What would be an acceptable excitement for you to be considered worthy?

Haven’t used my 15 pro max action button nearly as often as expected. Changed it to the camera since I can’t think of a useful shortcut at this time.

It's time for Apple to stop the obsessive focus on the iPhone camera, and do something else. Big deal, 48MP front facing camera. No one needs that. Telescoping, periscoping, higher resolutions — it's a PHONE! Improve the features of the phone.
