Given my ongoing frustrations with everything UI in Mac OS for years and this abdominal release of everything " 26 " ... : Bye !

Can't wait for a 180 degree turn, asap.
Or at least options to restore colors, contrast, etc
If they can force liquid and transparent on us.
How about the opposite???

First the iPhone Air guy and now the Liquid Glass guy? What is going on over there?

On a positive note, at least we won’t have to look at this face ever again.

It's funny in that all these companies are decaying into bastions of inbred thinking and repetitive 'creativity'. The ideas become ever more recycled, less original, less excited by and inspired by the richer world. Just hire the same 20 people and shuffle them between companies and what do you know - it all looks bad and is all filled with their personal failings.

Apple doesnt seem to be taking any measures or efforts in order to retain their chief engineers. So much for the shareholders .

Why would they bother though. No AI, unkept promises, and they still sold a tremendous amount of iPhone 17 series.

Might as well cut more margins and increase the price too

So much hate for Liquid Glass, I like it a lot but ok. Sadly seeing someone leaving Apple for Meta. I mean.. Meta… Meta is investing a lot in talents (and salaries)

AI and ML are in Apple products way before most others. Maybe you are referring to AI chat bot. Many “wow” features from the past years like copy&paste from a photo with text are ML

You're definitely in the minority. It sucks really bad. I turned ut off completely and increased the contrast. Nit going to be struggling reading on my devices just because apple wants to say it looks cool.

I meant more like LLM , assistant integration, etc .

Magic cue is fantastic. Gemini nano is fantastic too. Integration with apps is awesome too. That's what we were promised with iPhone 16

I am not convinced that these people might be better anywhere else.

No man (or woman) is an island. Even people like Jony Ive likely had an entire support system at Apple dedicated to letting them to their best work there. If the company they are going to lacks the same design-led culture that Apple had, they may not be able to replicate the success that led to companies like Meta being willing to pay top dollar for them in the first place.

At the same time, if these people decide that perhaps Apple is no longer the best place for them to work in, then leaving may not be such a bad thing after all.

So by all means let them go work for Meta or openAI or whichever other company is willing to pay them the big bucks. Good for them, I genuinely wish them all the best in their new positions, Apple will probably go on and do their usual stuff, and life goes on.

Wow! So how many years will it take for Apple to get back to Apple ? Mac OS Tahoe is a debacle, iOS 26 is a total shocker. The only OS that makes sense with 26 is tvOS.

Meta is one of the worst companies there is. And now they are throwing their weight and ill-gotten money to do something that will impact the entire tech space negatively. It's terrible.

I would love it if we, as people who love and care about tech, would focus on that, instead of all 7 pages (so far) being about Liquid Glass. We get it, some people like it, some don't, but there's more to this story.

I LOVE liquid glass on iOS. It does a nice job of being aesthetic and evoking a tactile feel for the device’s glass UI.
I don’t like it much in MacOS though. Not sure if that’s the platform where others also have an issue with it.

Meta do seem to be positioning themselves into a very good place. At least I understand the leadership and direction there.
I honestly dont think Apple business model of secrecy, lack of any obvious roadmap or evidence of intention is good in 2025 [it wasnt great 10 years ago, 20 years ago it was when Jobs was around].

Apple's UI design has been in the dumpster for years.
Which is even more maddening considering how good a lot of the hardware has become. I'm sitting here with an M4 Air with 3x the battery life and 3x the speed of my last Intel Air... but the UI is like a funhouse mirror version of what macOS used to be.

Great news.

I just hope the replacement isn't worse, though that would be hard. Hopefully some sanity will return to Apple designs.

Bring back consistent UI guidelines and QUANTITATIVE metrics (like the number of clicks it takes to do a task). Separate UI designs for different devices (a computer needs a completely different UI than a phone, iPad, etc.).
