Sometimes Apple reminds me of a crazy person. Sometimes they're brilliant. Sometimes they do things that defy logic.

Why would they remove the lock sound? An oversight? Someone forgot to copy a file? Or did people actually sit down and decide we don't need that one sound anymore? And if so, why was a single minute wasted on THAT utterly insignificant decision, while ignoring the fact that Safari STILL has no tab count on the tool bar, or countless other little oversights, some of which would be easier to fix than not including a lock sound.

And why this silly little 13mb hotfix? To fix a problem with iTunes Match? How does that help developers? No 3rd party app I know of can even access music stored in the cloud (which really sucks), so why is it so almighty important to push a separate hotfix when they could have just baked it into the next beta?

There are so many inconsistencies and oddities in ios7 that I'm starting to think there's no way they'll all be ironed out in time for launch. I think Apple is basically going to release beta 8 on the world. In fact I think ios8 will likely be the GM for ios7.

Since the lock sound is still there it's either a glitch or mistake or they're making new sounds. Or maybe they just think the unlock sound is unnecessary.

Anyone else having problems syncing after applying the profile? Keeps telling me the connection to my iPhone was lost. This is with my phone plugged into the computer not over wifi.

Well if the September 10 date is accurate is there time for two more betas before GM?

I'm skeptical, when does Apple usually announce these types of events? ...When Apple announces it, then it's a real date, otherwise, it's just a rumor. ...iPhone 4S did not line up with the rumors at all, until just a couple weeks before it came out, rumors pointed to a redesigned device dubbed iPhone 5. I'm not sure about that date, that was a surprise to me, seems too early...I would expect late Sept. or sometime in Oct. ...plus, the developer's portal was down for over a week and not back completely to full status for how long, three weeks?

Interestingly you can "cut" text out of the description

This is funny.

Also I hope it fixes the issue with the reminders app. It became unusable for me in Beta 5.

Weird. The iTunes Radio i never used is gone now

I had that happen once with beta 4...I was having strange things going on with it, then it said it was temporarily unavailable, then disappeared...the icon even. Sometime later that day I was at home on wifi and I noticed the icon was back, and then it was working fine. I still don't know what happened.

Hehe, indeed the decisions and the evolution of this beta releases seem to be odd at times, that's common with beta operating systems. You can never tell at what stage they are in order to take such decisions to improve something that seems totally unimportant rather than something usefull. This goes for almost every beta operating system out there.

The first beta was so buggy and full of animation stuttering that I was sure this is not going to get ironed out on existing devices, they seemed too far from it. But now it's almost totally smooth. I think they will be ready for the launch (well, a few bugs will always be there of course).

I still wish they would have changed the Photos icon to the one on the right. :(

Image

I prefer the one on the left far more than the one on the right. The "dark flower" pattern in the center of the left-side icon seems more complete to me, shows more tones in the colours, as opposed to that "white sun" on the right-side icon.

If it bothers you that much, maybe there'll be an iOS 7 Jailbreak...

Well, isn't the unlock/lock sound part of skewmorphism (whatever you call it)? I doubt it's a mistake, they put things in like fingerprint sensor stuff one release then take it back out next, try to keep us guessing what they're up to. ...I'm guessing they're prepping us for new sounds by leaving one out this time...they'll either give us a hint next beta or wait for the GM. ...but, I'd like to be able to customize all sounds, including these.

The app update problem has been fixed. But i think I'll have to make a clean update, 'cause it's draining my battery like 3% every 5 minutes.

No unlock sound here still.
I have never noticed it missing on my iPad 4, but I was always using Apple smart case and iPad never produces the unlocking sound using it, but i am kind of missing this sound on my phone 5... Perhaps they will bring it back in the next (final beta) or GM ;)
Not long to go now :)
BTW; No probs with beta 6 on my iPad 4 and iPhone 5, but i never experienced any with beta 5 either other than occasional Safari crash that I also had under iOS 6.14. Personally I think it's ready to go prime time as is already. Love it :)

It says 'emergency'. What's more of an emergency than those awful icons?

Your phone being ******** due to some unknown security issue is more emergency then the icons. And seriously, what is with people in this forum and icons? Because everyone I know outside this forum have no problem with them! Where did all this obsession came from?

The funny part is half the people complaining about icons will end up butchering their phone with garbage winterboard themes anyway..

I think half of them are the same people who complain they can't delete stock apps from the iPhone and dump them on the last page in a folder called "garbage"
