Does the Night Mode come on automatically for the Ultra 1 too? There's only one watch face thus far that uses night mode. Does night mode propagate to other watch faces?

That's too bad because it looks like it also has an auto-brightness detector and software-wise, it could be implemented.
Maybe the ambient light sensor in the first gen isn’t good enough. Or maybe Apple are being their usual self.

I’m running the beta and no change in that for night mode. Unless the RC changes that, but I doubt it.

Yeah, it could be basically a way to differential the models artificially. :(

3,000 nits

Really, though, nice! That’s quite bright.

Also mildy disappointed on the lack of new color, but coming from a 6 and training for longer races where the battery isn't cutting it while using gps and spotify (and the 9 won't either), I will still probably go for the new ultra over looking for a deal on the old one. the s9 chip will probably be the same in the watch for multiple years, and it will be more limiting at some point to not have than it is now. also the double tap thing looks useful.

3000 nits and double tap. Maybe enough to upgrade - depends on the trade in they offer on the AWU1. Love mu AWU1 - may pass on this one...we'll see

they attained a new level of calling themselves "Minimalistic".
I wonder how their product team still draws a bi-monthly paycheck for singing carbon footprint

So they did nothing about the fact it's ugly as sin and singularly useless for is alleged purpose of extreme activities? 40m dive rating? A Casio can dive deeper than that. What an overpriced ugly lump.
Now, the original design and series 4 refresh is timeless and beautiful. You can tell when Ive and Newson stopped being an influence on that team.

Had an account way back in the day (my account email address was aol lmao) and forgot the password long ago… but still read the forums regularly.

… actually re-subscribed and created an account after years — just to say how disappointed I am there is no black apple watch ultra.

And you KNOW theyre just holding it back for a mid year release or some BS to squeeze out a few more bucks of revenue this year or next.

Don't understand this wish for the black titanium version. The scratches would make the watch look horrible and people would complain that the titanium casing "isn't strong enough" when the natural titanium would becomes visible.

I would like to have double tap. But I can’t see upgrading from my current ultra which is only about 7 months old. We will see.

No reason to upgrade my Ultra. Unless they offer a great trade-in deal, which I don’t think they usually do for watches.

You might not want one, but many do. No harm in giving us the choice.
