So if you are in to Nit picking those 3,000 down to 2,000 will you get more battery life hours?
Could be something for a setup slider.
The Ultra 1 was plenty bright for me at 2,000 nits almost all the time...

Are you claiming to always read all the posts that follow? For my part, I plead guilty!
If I’m going to reply to someone, and there has been posts made since, then yes as I don’t want to duplicate information and look daft.

You might not want one, but many do. No harm in giving us the choice.
I ordered a new ultra 2 to replace my S6, but I really wish they had different colors, that grey is so boring. I actually prefer blue, but I would have ordered black if they had it. And I agree, choice would have been much better.

Although I update iPhones every year, Apple Watch has indeed been incremental. The AWU2 I ordered today will be my fifth:

S0 - I got this one because, duh.
S3 - First with LTE
S4 - Bigger case
S7 - Even Bigger Case
AWU2 - faster SiP

My first Apple Watch was the series 2 in 2016. Then the series 5 in 2019. Now contemplating the ultra 2, which would provide a tremendous boost in battery life, screen size and performance (not that I found it lacking). But it seems I will be headed towards a 4-5 year upgrade cycle for my watch.

Nothing wrong with a 4-5 year upgrade cycle! Don’t always need to upgrade every year. 😊

Thanks. The reason why I am typing this out is that my current series 5 still doesn’t actually feel slow, and it’s battery health is at a decent 89% as I had its battery replaced last year. So there’s a part of me who would rather just get the latest and greatest that Apple has to offer right now and basically not have to think about upgrading for the next few years, vs seeing how far my current watch can hold out in terms of performance (I assume it will run watchOS just fine) while seeing what next year’s ultra refresh will bring.

The caveat of course, is that there is currently no guarantee we will see an ultra watch 3 next year, or how significant the improvements will be even.

And my series 5 doesn’t even feel slow or lacking in any way (though I do sometimes end the day with it at around 15-20% battery life, which feels a tad too close for comfort). So it boils down to whether the itch for something new outweighs the inertia of sticking with something that still works for me.

Hope I make sense.

It's the battery health that accelerates my upgrade schedule. I'll admit, I do like the latest and greatest, but a watch doesn't need to be blazing fast like an iPhone/iPad/MacBook. It just needs to go a day without charging. Which mine cannot.

Anyone that’s gone from Ultra to Ultra 2 noticed the dial has less resistance? I feel like the ultra had more resistance and feedback.
