A lot of great features, especially for iPad, but as far as sheer frequency of use, that quickpath keyboard is (potentially) the game changer for me.

All I want in the 21st century is an iPhone keyboard with an added number row across the top. ALL iOS devices have enough room to support that and I'm just so sick and tired of bouncing back and forth between alpha and numeric keyboards just to enter addresses and dates and passwords etc. It just kills me that this isn't available. Screw swiping until this happens...
I agree numbers, or at least the option, is needed. But no, let’s not screw swiping. There’s no need for that. Let’s keep swiping until this happens.

As is typical, this release of iOS just left me underwhelmed, especially at how much people were hyping it last year and then saying that it had been delayed to this year so they could focus on speed/stability in iOS 12.
Then as WWDC approached this year, people again were hyping the hell out of iOS 13 and.. this is it... just an optional, ugly, black interface...

There are some nice things here, such as continuing to focus on speed and the privacy improvements, but in terms of design, it's just the same thing we've had since 2007!
The only good thing I can say design wise, is that at least I can see some new UI elements that were added to iOS 13 that might hint at a bigger redesign coming later. For example, that floating bar in the new Photos app.

As someone who uses swipe functionality every day, once you get the hang of it, youll never want to lose it. It is absolutely terrific when typing on a flat desk, or when using one hand. Happy to see this on iOS!

Nice good to hear, looking forward to it. I have a XS Max, and typing with one hand sounds great!

Has it been announced which phones will not be eligible for this upgrade? I’m holding on to my iPhone 6s + until it no longer works, and I’d like to use dark mode if possible.

Well if the video is so important you can either turn on do not disturb or even airplane mode

That’s ridiculous. One shouldn’t have to resort to such measures so that calls don’t interrupt everything you’re doing.

And also, do not disturb doesn’t not stop calls filling the screen. Trust me I tried.

Quick tip, you can press and pull down keys like "U" to select their alternatives e.g. "7".

I commented this on another thread. But it seems like very year we are convinced that this is the year that Apple will redesign ios to this new fantastic modern design. To replace the old, stale, boring design. And every year we get disappointed. At some point we need to realize it isn’t going to happen, lol.

Well, Well, Apple is finally catching up., they might just get me to dump my Lumina 950XL since they have most of its features now... i'm glad to see they are getting smart, now lets make some square icons we can resize, please apple the round ones have to go, they are boring. :) . I noticed there were some oblong ones, youre almost there...

you can use third party keyboards that give you this option
Never going to happen - they record all of your keystrokes and data mine you.

Didn't know that, but it's got hack written all over it. I'd have to count the keys to know which one corresponds to the number I actually want and if you have to do more than one number it's likely faster to switch between keyboards. There's literally oceans of space for that extra row of numbers on the keyboard...

I've just been looking through the extended list and there are a lot of small features that will make a big difference!

Also, are more 3d touch features coming to non 3D Touch devices??

Hopefully dark mode includes a setting to automatically switch at night like TV OS. I'm still not sure how that option didn't make it to Mac OS last year.

Agreed. I hope it makes it into iOS. I can confirm that it lives in macOS.auto.png

with android or some

when you received a call it will be ringing on top of your screen with a small banner alert and not occupying the full screen

you can even minimized it to have it just run in the background

thats not what he meant tho. what you are referring is a different thing which is about spam call

I can see value in allowing notification for incoming calls to take up less screen space instead of filling the display. But what Zachari seems to want is for incoming calls that aren't answered to not go to voice mail. If the call is from someone I recognize, I wouldn't want that to happen without the caller getting a text or voice response saying why I can't pick up. That would be helpful.

Glad Apple finally adopted all these Android features since it makes the workflow more familiar flipping between the two platforms.

Same old iOS 7 calendar (cr)app :(
Only update the calendar app gets is

Add attachments to events
iOS 13 supports adding attachments to events in Calendar

Woohoo... Glad i switched to Google Calendar again.

And calls that still take over the screen no matter what...

Come on Apple, you can fix this!

Imagine shooting a very important video and a call comes in. Boom! Your recording is interrupted. Awesome.

They got to save something for iOS 14. :D

Omg, another thing coming to Apple that they said wasn’t needed. ( after larger screens, stylus)

MOUSE support, maybe, just maybe the iPad can become a proper productivity device. Aka real computer.

What is the big deal about dark mode? Is it an aesthetic thing?
I guess some people prefer it so less brightness on the eyes.

Or you might say to hide the notch :D

When did Apple say this? 2010? 2008? Did Apple actually utter those words? Or was it Steve Jobs?

I’m glad Apple as a company can do what’s best for its customers. Even make a 180 if needed.

Thanks! You just made my day! I can still squeeze out a few more years out of this phone. Hopefully it’ll last until Apple comes out with a microLED iPhone.
I’m hanging in for them to bring back the headphone socket. I may be disappointed...
